BROTHER DCP-7020 DRUM

The corona wire on the Brother DCP-7020 must be cleaned from time to time, particularly when changing toner cartridge, or quality and print performance may suffer. Open the front cover to access the drum unit and toner assembly and pull out on the assembly to remove it from the machine.

Place the drum onto a piece of disposable paper or cloth so any excess toner found on the casing does not stain the work surface. To clean the wire, slide the BLUE TAB with the arrow on it left to right sever times. The tab must be returned to its original position with the two arrows lining up. The tab should snap back into place.

Reinstall the drum and toner cartridge assembly by sliding into place in its guides inside the machine. Close the front cover and the machine should return to operational mode.

When the display on the Brother DCP-7020 indicates that it is time to change the drum cartridge, begin the process by removing the drum and toner assembly. Unlike when changing toner cartridges, it is the drum unit that is to be discarded or recycled instead of the toner cartridge, and therefore the change to the new drum unit should be done quickly so as not to leave the toner cartridge exposed.

Open the new drum unit and snap the toner cartridge into place, then install the drum assembly back into the machine. Press the OPTIONS button, then select YES when REPLACE DRUM? appears on screen by pressing the UP arrow. The LCD will read ACCEPTED, indicating that the drum counter has been reset.
