Standard toner cartridges can print an average of 1,200 pages per unit. High-yield toner cartridges can print an average of 2,600 pages per unit. The starter toner will need to be removed and replaced after an average of 700 pages.
The LCD will display "Toner Low" when a cartridge is almost depleted. The LCD will display "Replace Toner" when the cartridge is fully depleted.
Note: Newly replaced toners will reset the "Toner Low" or "Replace Toner" mode.
Note: The device can be forced to continue printing, even after the LCD is displaying "Replace Toner." The device can be forced to continue by configuring the device to Continue mode. To force the device to continue printing: Press Menu, press ˄ or ˅ to select General Setup (press OK), press ˄ or ˅ to select Replace Toner (press OK), press ˄ or ˅ to select Continue (press OK). This will force the device to continue printing until the LCD displays "Toner Ended."
To replace the toner cartridge, leave the device plugged in an operating. Release the front-cover and leave the device on for roughly 10 minutes.
Note: The device needs to cool down, especially if it has been operating. The internal components can be extremely hot. Exercise caution when handling the device's internal parts after it has been operating.
After the cool-down period, take out the toner and drum elements. Depress the green lock lever and remove the toner cartridge from the drum unit.
Note: Have a flat surface with a sheet of cloth or paper ready to place the toner and drum elements.
Note: Do not employ the use of cleaning materials like flammable substances, alcohol, or ammonia to the internal or external components of the device.
After removing the toner cartridge, dispose of the unit into a sealable bag (toner powder can leak).
With the new toner cartridge unpacked and handy, grab the cartridge and hold it level. While gripping both sides of the cartridge, shake the cartridge from side-to-side to distribute the toner evenly.
Remove the new toner's protective cover and immediately plug the toner cartridge in the drum unit, carefully. The toner cartridge will 'click' into place. Also, the green lever will raise automatically.
To clean the corona wire, gently slide the green tab left to right a few times and bring the tab back to its home position.
Note: If the green tab is not brought back to its home position, prints may have a vertical stripe. The home position is where the arrow is pointing down and on the left-hand side of the unit.
Now, put the drum and toner assembly back into the device and close the front-cover.
