The useful life of the installed transfer belt is approx. 50,000 pages. You can check the status of the installed transfer belt by pressing [Menu] – [5] – [4] – [2]. You should replace the transfer belt in the following circumstances:

The colors of the printouts are incorrect/inaccurate

The message [Change Belt Unit] is displayed

The message [No Belt Unit] is displayed – The transfer belt is missing, incorrectly installed, or defective. You must make sure that the transfer belt is correctly installed, and then test the Brother DCP-9040CN Digital Laser Copier. Please install a new transfer belt if the problem persists.

The message [Registration] is displayed – You should try to solve the problem by performing a manual registration – press [Menu] – [3] – [7]. Please install a new transfer belt if the problem persists.

In the initial step of the replacement procedure, you must turn off the laser copier, and then open the front cover. Next, you must lift the drum unit up and then pull it towards you until it stops. After that, you must pull the gray lock lever up, and then take the drum unit along with the installed toner cartridges out of the Brother DCP-9040CN Digital Laser Copier. Now, you must lift the exhausted transfer belt up and then pull it out of the machine. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must remove the protective cover and paper from the new transfer belt, and then slide the new component along the guides of the slot as far as it will go. Once the new transfer belt is firmly inserted, you must push the green area of the new component down, and then slide the drum unit into the machine. Next, you must push the gray lock lever down, and then push the drum unit in until it stops. After that, you must close the front cover, and then turn the laser copier on. Now, you must press [Menu] – [5] – [5] to enter the [Resets] menu, and then select [Belt Unit]. Finally, you must press [1] to reset the transfer belt counter.
