BROTHER MFC-9840CDW BLACK TONER CARTRIDGE

Toner Save spreads the toner particles further apart in order to provide page coverage while consuming less toner. As a result, the toner cartridge life is extended, but the

prints are lighter.

1)    While the MFC-9840CDW is turned on, press the Menu button, press the scroll buttons repeatedly until "1. GENERAL SETUP" is displayed and press Ok

2)    Press the scroll buttons repeatedly until "6. Ecology" is displayed and press Ok.

3)    Press the scroll buttons repeatedly until "1. Toner Save" is displayed and press Ok.

4)    Press the scroll keys until "ON" is displayed and press Ok to apply the changes.

5)    Press the Stop/Exit button to exit the menu options.

1)    Turn off the printer and unplug the power cable.

2)    Press the cover release button on the front panel and pull open the front cover.

3)    Grasp the drum handle and pull the cartridge up and out until it stops.

4)    Grab the handle of the toner cartridge that needs replacing and pull it up and lift it out. Repeat the same step for any additional toner cartridge that needs to be replaced. Do not touch the green drum of the assembly. Please keep drum covered from bright light because prolonged exposure to light may result in damage.

5)    While in the bag, please shake the new toner cartridge from side to side in order to distribute the toner. Please open the bag, take out the toner cartridge, and remove any packing material that may be on the cartridge.

6)    Align the tabs on the sides of the new toner cartridge with the slotted guides on the drum cartridge for the corresponding color. Fold down the handle of the toner cartridge to secure it in place. Repeat the same step for any additional toner cartridges being replaced.

7)    Insert the drum assembly until it stops

8)    Close the front cover, and plug the power cable back in.

Turn off the printer and unplug all power cables. Press the release button and open the front cover.

Take out the drum unit. Pull each toner cartridge out of the drum unit. Release the latches of white corona wire cover. Take the cover off.

Grasp the green corona wire and slide it from side to side several times. When cleaning process is done put on the corona cover.

Return the toner cartridge back to the drum unit. Repeat this for all toner cartridges. Make sure that you return the corona wire in its first position when ready.

When cleaning process is done and all toner cartridges are back in the drum unit return the drum unit in printer and close the front cover. Plug all power cables and switch on the machine.

The Sleep mode in Brother MFC-9840 is made for ecological reasons. From one side Sleep mode will make the electricity use less, but on the other side when printer is waking up from sleep mode will calibrate and will use more electricity. It will be best to remove Sleep mode.
To remove Sleep mode enter menu 16 –Ecology, enter position 2 – Sleep mode. The user can choose from 0 to 200 minutes before printer enters Sleep mode. To turn off Sleep mode, just type “000” in minutes display and press Enter and OK button.
To exit menu press Stop / Exit button.
