When do I Replace a Toner Cartridge in the OKIDATA C8800?

The precise monitoring system of your OKIDATA C8800 is constantly receiving information from special built-in (in each consumable component) sensors about the current condition of the installed toner cartridges. Once the built-in system detects that one or several of the installed toner cartridges are near the end of its/their useful life, it will display one or several of the included below warning messages.

You should install a new toner cartridge/cartridges of the indicated color, soon after the initial appearance of the warning message/messages. Otherwise, the remaining toner will be consumed very soon, which will lead to a non-operational printer's mode, and resp. to the complete disabling of all print operations. The non-operational mode will be also indicated by the built-in monitoring system, and you will see one or several of the error messages listed below.

The only available action, after the appearance of any of the listed above error messages, is an installation/installations of a new toner cartridge/cartridges of the indicated color/colors. Please note that you will have to install a new toner cartridge/cartridges, if any of the listed below error messages is appearing on the control display, even after a correct installation of the indicated toner cartridge.

How to Install a Toner Cartridge in the OKIDATA C8800

Initially, you must open the top cover of your OKIDATA C8800 by pressing its release button. Please be aware that the indicated with a warning sign fuser unit will be very hot, if you have recently used your printer. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must locate the exhausted toner cartridge, and then pull its colored lock release lever towards you, in order to unlock it from its corresponding slot/drum unit. Please note that the correct toner cartridge installation order is as follows (from the rear side of the printer): Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black. After that, you must remove the exhausted toner cartridge from the printer by lifting its right end first, then sliding the cartridge to the right and lifting it out of the compartment. Now, you must take the new toner cartridge out of the protective packaging, and then shake it 8-10 times horizontally, in order the toner to be loosened and evenly distributed inside the cartridge. Then, you must remove the protective tape from the shutter of the new toner cartridge, but please be careful not to touch the lock release lever of the cartridge. Once the new toner cartridge is prepared for installation, you must insert its left side into the slot, and then push the right end of the new cartridge down until it fits firmly into the drum unit below. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must secure the new toner cartridge by pushing its colored lock release lever towards the rear side of the printer, and then clean the LED lens (located on the top cover) with the included with the toner cartridge cleaner. Finally, you must close the top cover, and then test your OKIDATA C8800 laser printer.

OkiData C8800 Printer Review

Overview:

The OkiData C8800 is perfect for printing larger documents. It can produce posters and proofs. This printer is affordable and offers high quality printing. You can’t go wrong with outstanding printers from OkiData.

Pros:

The control panel on the OkiData C8800 is easy to use. On it is a two-line, backlit LCD display that comes with six operating buttons and two indicators. There is also a bright attention light. It also comes with sockets for USB 2, parallel and network connections.

You won’t have to waste time setting it up. All the consumables come installed in the printer. Just plug it in, run the installation software and you are ready to print.

With the OkiData C8800 you get a printer driver and a swatch utility which will allow you to compares color onscreen with the ones produced. The driver can also be used to produce watermarks and printing 16 pages on a single sheet of paper.

The printer is fast and you don’t have to spend a lot of time waiting for it to warm up. According to OkiData is can print 32ppm with AR paper and 17ppm with A3 paper.

Output quality is above average. When printing text copies you will see excellent contrast. Color is clean and clear. Best of all you will not see any signs of dithering. Print takes on a slightly glossy appearance, which isn’t a concern. Some people even like this appearance.

Cons:

One thing lacking with the OkiData C8800 is its paper handling capacity. With it you get a 300 sheet main paper tray which is supplemented by a 100-sheet, multi-purpose tray and A4 paper is loaded in landscape mode and printed sideways.

There are problems with printing photos with this printer. Photos produced with this printer show noticeable banding across the sky. Furthermore you will see a loss of detail in shadowed areas. Colors commonly display a reduced gamut and are over-accentuated.
