CANON IMAGECLASS MF8380CDW BLACK TONER CARTRIDGE

Open the front cover of the Canon ImageClass MF8380CDW and press the release lever on the toner tray so that it can be pulled open like a drawer by its handle. Pull the toner cartridge that is to be replaced up by its handle and recycle it.

Remove a now toner cartridge of the proper color from its bag and prepare it by first shaking it around a few times so that the toner inside is loose and free flowing. Pop the finger tab on the end of the cartridge and remove the sealing tape by pulling it out of the cartridge slowly and carefully, being careful not to break it.

Pull the drum protective cover off the bottom of the unit and, once it is off, do not let it come into contact with anything other than its proper contact inside the printer. Keeping this in mind, be careful to, while holding the cartridge by its handle, lower it down into the proper slot. If additional cartridges are to be replaced, repeat the process as needed, doing each cartridge one at a time.

Push the toner tray back into the machine as far as it will go and then close the front cover behind it. If the cover does not close easily, then a toner cartridge has been installed wrong and must be double checked for proper fitting.

There are multiple indicators that allow a user to know when his toner cartridge must be changed or must be changed soon. The Canon ImageClass MF8380CDW has its own built in system of detection that will alert the user in multiple ways when there is a problem with the toner.

When the words PREPARE <COLOR> TONER CARTRIDGE appears on screen, where <COLOR> is BLACK, CYAN, MAGENTA, or YELLOW, it means that the printer has detected a low level of toner in the device. This does not mean that the unit will cease operation immediately; but that it is time to order a new cartridge if one is not currently on hand as the current cartridge or cartridges are running dangerously low.

The second message that will eventually appear is the CART PARTS LIFE END. <COLOR> REPLCMNT. RECMND. Message appears meaning a replacement is recommended. Under normal circumstances, the printer will fail to operate under these conditions. If the message has come up in error, you may force the printer into continued operation with the CONTINUE PRINTING (QLTY. NOT GUARANTEED) setting. Under most circumstances, print quality will be so diminished that the cartridge will have to be replaced.

Sometimes white streaks or faded lines are areas on printed material will appear. Attempting to make adjustments will not improve these print problems as the toner is simply too low to provide acceptable print quality. Messages will not always appear when the toner has run too low in a cartridge to continue to be used.

To check the toner levels manually, press the TONER GUAGE button. This will bring up an OK, LOW, or NEARLY OUT message for each of the four colors, represented by the letters C, M, Y, and K.
