When do I Replace a Maintenance Cartridge in the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF610?
The maintenance cartridge installed in your Canon imagePROGRAF iPF610 must be replaced, if:
The following error message ''No maintenance cartridge'' is displayed on the LCD of your printer, while the maintenance cartridge is correctly installed into the machine. You must replace the maintenance cartridge, because it is damaged or faulty.
The following warning message/advance notification ''Prepare for maint cart replacement'' is displayed on the LCD. You should install a new maintenance cartridge soon after the initial appearance of this warning message, in order to be avoided a non-operational printer's mode.
The following warning message ''No Maintenance Cartridge capacity'' is displayed on the LCD. This message indicates that the remaining print capacity of the installed maintenance cartridge won't be enough for the successful execution of the next printing task/job. The only available action is a new maintenance cartridge installation.
The following error message ''Maintenance Cartridge full'' is displayed on the control LCD. This error message indicates a non-operational printer's mode caused by a completely exhausted maintenance cartridge. You must install a new maintenance cartridge, in order to be restored the normal/full printer's functionality.
''Maintenance cartridge problem'' is displayed on the control LCD of your ink-jet device. You must replace the installed maintenance cartridge, because it is incompatible with your ink-jet device, or it has been already exhausted.
How to Install a Maintenance Cartridge in the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF610
Initially, you must make sure that your Canon imagePROGRAF iPF610 is in ''off-line'' mode (Check the indication on the LCD). Then, you will have to perform the short initialization procedure/process, which is included below, but only if you are replacing a maintenance cartridge when there is no indication (warning or error message) displayed on the control LCD of your ink-jet device. In case that you are replacing a maintenance cartridge when a warning or an error message has been displayed on the LCD, then you will have to skip the initialization process included below and proceed directly from the marked with ''!'' portion of the current maintenance cartridge replacement procedure.
Maintenance Cartridge Replacement-Initialization Procedure/Process
1. Make sure that there are no error or warning messages displayed on the control LCD.
2. Press the [Menu] button.
3. Select [Maintenance] by pressing the [^] several times, and then press [>].
4. Select [Repl. Maint cart] by pressing the [^] several times, and then press [>].
5. Select [Yes] by pressing the [^] several times, and then press [OK].
6. Proceed with the next step of the maintenance cartridge replacement procedure.

(Press [OK] and start from here, if there is a warning or an error message displayed) You must detach the output tray by pulling it towards you while pressing its lock release button, and then take the exhausted maintenance cartridge by pulling it carefully towards you, but please be aware that the exhausted maintenance cartridge is heavy. Now, you must take the new maintenance cartridge out of the protective transport packaging, but avoid touching the contact area of the new component, and then insert the new maintenance cartridge into the main unit until it stops. After that, you must reinstall the output tray to the main unit by aligning it with the guides and pushing towards the machine. Finally, you must press the [OK] button, and wait for the automatic initialization procedure to be completed.
