Canon SELPHY CP510 Printer Review

Overview:

The Canon Selphy CP510 is fast and economical. However image quality is average. It is a boxy 300dpi thermal dye printer that is nothing special to look at.
The right-hand side provides connectivity for PictBridge allowing you to connect imaging products and there's also a USB port, as well as a retractable mini-USB cable that can be attached to a camera. It gains praise for offering an optional battery pack that allows you to use it from anywhere.
According to Canon the printer will print a photo in 58 seconds. However this speed can only be obtained using a Canon camera with the Digic ll processor.

Pros:

The printer does require some maintenance to keep it in top working form. Dust can be a problem with this printer. Each time you finish printing with this printer you should remove and close the paper cassette, then close the baby blue cover, and place the dust cover on the back. Sometimes you need to wipe the printer case with a dry cloth. It won’t take much effort to clean it. It comes with a cleaner stick to clean dust off the printer's internal rollers.
The Selphy CP510 is perfect for printing 4x6 prints (and even 4x8 panoramas) from your computer or directly from your PictBridge or Canon Direct Print-capable camera. The CP710 also comes with a card reader and LCD to navigate the card's contents.
This printer is easy to set up. All you need to do is to install the ribbon cassette, load the paper cassette, connect the power cord and then make any data connections you want. Loading the ribbon cassette is as easy as pie. Simply remove it from the clear protective wrap and give the supply spool a little twist to take up any slack in the ribbon by pressing in on the blue spool end and turning it in the direction of the arrow embossed on the bottom. Then just put it into the cartridge door. It is important to push it until it locks in place.

Cons:

One shortcoming of the Canon Selphy CP510 is that it only offers 300 X 300dpi resolution. Sometimes you will see dithering with this printer. Furthermore colors may be distorted at times.
