When do I Replace a Printhead in the HP Color Inkjet CP1700 Printer?

The printheads installed in your HP Color Inkjet CP1700 Printer are consumable components. The overall print quality results achieved by your inkjet printer are directly related to the technical condition of the installed printheads. You can obtain information about the status of the installed printheads from the [Printer Status] tab of the HP Toolbox software.
Your HP Color Inkjet CP1700 Printer will notify you, when a printhead related abnormality occurs. You should replace an installed printhead(s), if any of the listed messages appears on the control panel.

‘’REPLACE [COLOR] PRINTHEAD’’ – Your HP Color Inkjet CP1700 Printer is in a non-operational mode caused by a faulty printhead. You must install a new printhead of the indicated color to continue printing.

‘’ [COLOR] PRINTHEAD MISSING’’ – The specified printhead cannot be detected by the built-in monitoring system. This problem could be caused by an incorrectly installed, missing, or defective printhead. Herein, you must make sure that all printheads are correctly installed into the HP Color Inkjet CP1700 Printer. A new printhead of the indicated color must be installed, if the issue persists.

‘’BAD PRINTHEAD’’ – The specified printhead is faulty. You must install a new printhead of the indicated color.

‘’INCOMPATIBLE [COLOR] PRINTHEAD’’ – The indicated printhead is incorrectly installed or not intended for use in your HP Color Inkjet CP1700 Printer. You should try to resolve the problem by reinstalling the indicated printhead. A new printhead of the specified color must be installed, if the error message is still displayed afterwards. How to Install a Printhead in the HP Color Inkjet CP1700 Printer

You must make sure that your HP Color Inkjet CP1700 Printer is turned on, and then open the cover of the printhead compartment. Next, you must open the printhead access latch, and lift up the handle of the exhausted printhead. After that, you must pull the exhausted printhead out of the inkjet printer, and then unpack the new component. Now, you must insert the new printhead into the corresponding slot, and then push it gently down to ensure proper contact. Once the new printhead is firmly inserted, you must close the printhead access latch, and then close the cover of the compartment.
