Overview:

The Copystar CS-1820 is a multifunctional printer offered by Copystar to various offices with small to moderate level document production needs. With its compact design and  powerful system features in print, copy and scan, along with an optional faxing capability, the Copystar CS-1820 is one of the most suitable multifunction printers that small office work places can have at their disposal.

Pros:

The Copystar CS-1820 has impressive output speeds for a compact multifunction printer, with a rate that clocks at 18 pages per minute (ppm) for paper letter types and around 15 ppm for legal ones. These output speeds stands the same for the Copystar CS-1820's print and copy functions. First copy out results, the Copystar CS-1820 is more impressive, registering results in as fast as 9.5 seconds or less. First print out results are even better, with approximately taking 8 seconds. For its resolution, the Copystar CS-1820 has a standard of 600 x 600 dots per inch with 256 levels, with a Fast 1200 Mode that can deliver as high as 1,800 x 600 dpi and up to 2,400 x 600 dpi with KIR. Such high resolutions are possible on the Copystar CS-1820 with its standard 96 MB memory, which can be upgraded up to 320 MB via a 100 Pin DIMMS slot. Such an upgrade also allows the Copystar CS-1820 to handle high resolutions with ease along with its other features and abilities. The Copystar CS-1820 also has magnification features such as full size, auto magnification, including a 50-200% zoom capability that can be handled in increments of 1%. This allows the Copystar CS-1820 to produce customized tasks for its available functions in terms of magnification.

For other copy functions, the Copystar CS-1820 features imaging modes such as automatic and manual exposure level controls for text and photo outputs, as well as an ECO mode that enables lesser power and toner consumption that effectively lowers overall costs of production. The Copystar CS-1820 also has a continuous copy capability with up to 999 copies, with an auto reset to 1 feature included. Additional features for its copy function are electronic sort, paper select, copy priority function, as well as 8 job programs and job reserve.

Cons:

The Copystar CS-1820's compact design might work against it, as this limits the multifunction printer's capability to handle more volume. With dimensions measuring 19.5 x 16.6 x 17.9 inches, the Copystar CS-1820 is simply not large enough for office users that prefer their multifunction machines to be able to produce high volume outputs.
