E-STUDIO 163 DRUM

There are various signals indicating the need of a DRUM CLEANING BLADE replacement in your Toshiba E-STUDIO 163 Laser Printer. The most common signals are all including a certain worsening of the printed image`s quality. You can notice a background fogging, blurred images, blank copies, solid copies, multiple white bandings, or various black bandings on the printed image. The DRUM CLEANING BLADE replacement in Toshiba E-STUDIO 163 Laser Printer requires the disassembly of five other printer`s components. Below are described all required disassembly procedures in the exact order of execution.

The initial part of the DRUM CLEANING BLADE replacement procedure includes the Process Unit (PU) disassembly. In order to remove the PU, you must open the printer`s front cover and take off the toner cartridge. Now, you must detach the connector, loosen the screws and then pull out the Process Unit.
Next on the disassembly list is the Drum cleaner unit (DCU). After the PU disassembly, you must disconnect the two connectors and remove the two screws. Now, you can release the latch, take off the front cover from the process unit, and then you will be able to take the cleaning unit off by lifting it up. You must avoid touching /scratching the DRUM during the above disassembly operations.
Third in our disassembly list is the Discharge LED (ERS). After the cleaning unit is out, you must detach the latch, and then you will be able to safely remove the Discharge LED unit. Now, you must locate the harness clamp (on the front upper side of the LED unit), release it, and then you must pull out the Discharge LED.
Next for disassembly is the Main Charger. After the Discharge LED is removed, you must slide the Main charger to the rear side in order to take it off.  Once again, you must protect the DRUM from scratching.
After the disassembly of the above 4 printer components, you can disassemble the DRUM. You must rotate the lever to the left side, while pushing the latch, and then you will be able to take the DRUM off. 
When all of the above five components are disassembled, you must remove both screws located on each side of the DRUM CLEANING BLADE , and then you will be able to take the blade off. Now, you can install the new DRUM CLEANING BLADE by following the above procedure in reverse order, but remember to protect the DRUM from scratching, direct sunlight, or anything else that could damage its surface.
