HP Color LaserJet 9500 Review
The HP Color LaserJet 9500 is a device offering high-printing quality, HP imageREt 4800, a stunning monthly duty cycle and infrequent, fast closed-loop color calibration. The device is designed for medium and large companies, prints more than 20 pages per minute, features a standard built-in duplexer, is network ready and delivers stunning results.
The HP Color LaserJet 9500 Printer works as fast as 24 pages per minute for both monochrome and colored documents, while the first page comes out in 17.5 seconds, if the printer hasn't been warmed up previously. While the printing speed is at least decent, the first page out is not coming so fast as expected, though this is a rather expensive device. 17.5 seconds is just not fast enough compared to its competitors.
The monthly duty cycle is set at 200.000 pages, meaning you should not print more than 200.000 pages per month to ensure a lengthy life for your device. The recommended monthly volume ranges somewhere between 5.000 and 25.000 pages per month. HP recommends printing between those ranges if you want your device to always work at optimal parameters.
This model features HP ImageREt 4800 and is Energy Star certified.
The device comes with an impressive input capacity, which can handle up to 3100 sheets, thanks to the four standard input trays. There is not the option to get more trays, as four is the maximum number of trays this printer can handle.
The HP Color LaserJet 9500 features a built-in duplexer for automatic two-sided printing, making this printer a realistic target for medium and large companies. With the built-in duplexer the users can print on both sides of the paper without moving a finger and companies can cut down on costs, time and consumables.
The printer supports the following media sizes: letter, letter-R, legal, executive, tabloid (11 x 17 inches), commercial No. 10 envelopes, C5 envelopes, B5 envelopes, DL envelopes, Monarch envelopes and foolscap (8.5 x 13 inches). The device supports the following media types: paper (plain, preprinted, letterhead, prepunched, bond, glossy, HP heavy glossy, non-HP heavy glossy, recycled, color, cardstock), tough paper, envelopes, transparencies and labels.
The device is powered up by a powerful 500 MHz processor and features a standard memory of 288 MB. The RAM can be extended to a maximum capacity of 512 MB thanks to the only available DIMM slot. The printer features a standard 20 GB hard disk and supports the following languages: PostScript 3 emulation, PCL 5C, PCL 6 and direct PDF. There are lots of other optional connectivity choices, such as the HP Fast Infrared Receiver (FIR), the HP Jetdirect EIO cards (including 802.11b wireless), Ethernet, Token Ring, Fast Ethernet 10/100TX, LocalTalk, serial & USB.
The HP Color LaserJet 9500 is compatible with the following operating systems: Windows 2000, Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Professional x64, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Mac OS 8.6 to 9.xx, Mac OS 10.1 or higher and Mac OS X. The device is Microsoft Vista certified.
There's simply nothing wrong with this printer from factory, but if I would really have to name something, I would say that this great device is a bit pricey to maintain. However, it gets 5/5 from me, as you can't expect a printer with such features to be cheap.
