HP Color LaserJet CM4730 Review
Hewlett & Packard presents the HP Color LaserJet CM4730, an MFP that prints radiant color in a fast and efficient manner. This printer is highly-reliable in dishing out professional-quality images and documents with the latest technology incorporated. It is a highly-flexible device that has a wide-range of networking-abilities. The IT department can configure this dependable machine to provide management a list of proactive features in control and diagnostics. In the long run, the MFP will sustain the company's resources. With its vibrant and robust functionality, the printer is suitable for medium-sized to enterprise-sized environments. As one of the best in its series, it sits at 31-inches wide, 25.2-inches deep, 45.4-inches tall, with a hefty weight of 273 pounds.
The HP Color LaserJet CM4730 MFP prints at 31 pages per minute for both, Color and Black & White. The first page out takes approximately 10 seconds from Ready mode and 17 seconds from the PowerSave mode. It has a print resolution of 600 x 600 dots per inch, but the HP ImageREt 3600 fills in the shortcomings in resolution. The copier component can print up to 999 continuous copies. It has a reduction/enlargement range between 25-400% from the scanner glass and 25-200% from the Automatic Document Feeder. It facilitates an option for the fax component. If users opt for the Fax machine, it will run at 33.6 Kilo Bits Per Second during transference. Fax features are relatively straightforward. Users can store up to 100 numbers on the speed dial and/or broadcast up to 100 locations. Other features like auto dialing, auto fax reduction, fax polling, and fax forwarding are the icing on the cake. The flatbed color scanner or the Automatic Document Feeder can be used to convert physical documents to digital at a resolution of 600 x 600 dots per inch. From there, users can copy, fax, email, or exploit them in secondary email, folders, or workflow. The digital-mediums can be sent to folders or work-flows in formats PDF, MTIFF, TIFF, and JPEG. Digital fax and authentication are part of the digital protocol. The HP Color LaserJet CM4730 utilizes a 533 MHz RISC processor and runs in lieu with roughly 448 Mega Bytes of memory (64 Mega Bytes of fixed-memory and 384 Mega Bytes of RAM). The memory is flexible in expandability via its 256 DIMMS with two flash memory slots for fonts or other solutions. In case you are wondering, the DIMM slots and their capacity is what enables the printer to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively without time-lags. The printer houses a 512 Mega Byte hard disk drive for stored memory. While the powerhouse printer can print at a monthly duty cycle of 175,000 pages, Hewlett & Packard recommend a duty cycle of 5000-9000 pages per month. Operating the printer at the recommended monthly volume ensures longer life and productivity but can accommodate peak-times during business hours. The CM4730 facilitates a standard automatic duplexer for 2-sided prints. Users can print on both sides of paper without much manual intervention. Its Automatic Document Feeder holds 50 sheets, and its multipurpose tray holds approximately 100 sheets. Trays 2,3, and 4 can hold 500 sheets each. This brings the total capacity to a generous 1,600 sheets. The output bin will flip up to 500 sheets of paper. This significantly reduces the time end-users spend manually flipping papers to get them in chronological order. Windows-based PCs and Macintosh systems are valid with the use of the printer. With an optional fax port, the standard interface consists of a USB Hi-Speed 2.0 port, Host USB port, EIO slot, bi-directional IEEE-1284-C port, and a foreign interface harness. IT administrators have the ability to network the printer with an HP JetDirect Ethernet print server. The JetDirect Ethernet print server grants a large array of creative, flexible options in networking. Overall, this printer is intuitive and offers an extensive list of functionalities in HP Color Management. The printer operation is painless and boosts productivity in-house. Its network-ability is ideal for administrators and does not limit management control. It is a powerhouse MFP that can produce vivid prints with powerful performance while conserving overhead expenditure.
Fax is optional. At these prices, the fax should be mandatory and preinstalled. The printer weights 273 pounds, which, is good, if you are going to join the bodybuilding league. This printer will almost always require assistance to mobilize. Especially, if you want to handle with care. Compared to other high-end MFPs, this printer limits its total resolution to 600 x 600 dots per inch. It would be agreeable to see HP create a printer like this with a total of 1200 x 1200 dots per inch instead. It is not apparent whether the printer is compatible with operating systems like Linux, Unix, etc.
