DESKJET 9800 HIGH YIELD BLACK INK CARTRIDGE

Generally, the ink cartridges installed in your HP DeskJet 9800 Printer should be replaced, when their ink levels drop under 10%. You can check the ink levels and find detailed cartridge replacement information by viewing the ‘’HP Inkjet Toolbox’’ panels.
The most common cause for the majority of print quality issues is an ink cartridge related abnormality. You should replace the installed ink cartridges, if any of the listed print quality issues appears on each new print/copy.

• Blank pages

• Faded or dull colored prints

• Wrong colors

• Bleeding colors

The sophisticated built-in system of your HP DeskJet 9800 Printer constantly monitors the installed ink cartridges. The system will turn on the LEDs on the control panel in a certain light pattern, if an ink cartridge related abnormality is detected. All of these light patterns are listed and explained below.

• The left ink cartridge LED and the [Power] LED are on – The installed Tri-color ink cartridge is near the end of its useful life. You should install a new Tri-color ink cartridge soon after the initial appearance of the signal, in order to be avoided print quality issues.

• The right ink cartridge LED and the [Power] LED are on – The installed Black/Photo ink cartridge is nearly empty. Please note that a nearly empty ink cartridge can cause various print quality problems. Therefore, you should install a new Black/Photo ink cartridge as soon as possible.

• The two ink-cartridge LEDs and the [Power] LED are on – The Tri-color and the Black/photo ink cartridges are low on ink. You should install a new ink cartridge set soon after the initial appearance of the described light pattern, in order to be avoided a non-operational mode.

• The left ink cartridge LED blinks, and the [Power] LED is on – The built-in monitoring system cannot detect the Tri-color ink cartridge. You must make sure that the Tri-color ink cartridge is firmly inserted into the corresponding slot, and then test your inkjet printer. A new Tri-color ink cartridge must be installed, if the issue persists.

• The right ink cartridge LED flashes, and the [Power] LED is on – The Black/Photo ink cartridge is damaged or missing. You should try to resolve the issue by reinstalling the Black/Photo ink cartridge correctly. The installed Black/Photo ink cartridge will have to be replaced, if the problem persists.

• The two ink-cartridge LEDs are blinking, and the [Power] LED is on – Your HP DeskJet 9800 Printer cannot detect the ink cartridges. You must make sure that both ink cartridges are correctly installed, and then restart the printer. A new ink cartridge set must be installed, if the issue persists.

You must start the replacement procedure by opening the top cover while your DeskJet 9800 is turned on. Once the cartridge carriage stops moving, you must unlock the empty ink cartridge by lifting the green latch. Then, grasp the empty ink cartridge and slide it out of the slot. In the next step, you must unpack the new ink cartridge, and then remove the protective tape from the nozzles of the new component. Please do not touch the ink nozzles or the copper contacts of the new ink cartridge, in order to be avoided future print quality problems. After that, you must load a sheet of plain paper into the main tray, and then slide the new ink cartridge into the corresponding slot of the carriage. Now, you must push the green latch of the carriage down until it snaps into place, and then close the top cover. Finally, you must wait until the automatic alignment procedure is completely executed, and then follow the instructions given in the printed alignment page.
