The HP Color LaserJet 4500 series of printers distribute outstanding color output and are remarkably reliable monochrome devices. This model is robust and fitting for work-group laser printing needs. It can create polished, sales-winning marketing collateral at reasonable speeds. It does not matter what color a business needs its documents, the 4500 will provide them. HP has an unrivaled reputation for compatibility, reliability, and quality. This printer is 19.7" wide, 22.4" deep, 15.4" tall, and weighs approximately 112 pounds.

Pros:

The printer dishes out 16 pages per minute for Black-based documents. The max resolution is a standard 600 x 600 dots per inch; for Black-based and Color-based documents. Though, the phrase '600 x 600 dots per inch resolution can be misleading, it is accompanied by the HP ImageREt 2400 technologies.

The series of printers generally come with the same reliability that HP guarantees for all of their HP monochrome printers. The maintenance-requirements are minimal and relatively straightforward.

The printer has the optional duplex capabilities. This is an excellent tool if a business wants to remain economically sound with minimal waste. Businesses can save money and paper by printing on both sides of a document. It is an optimal tool that enables a business to create professional 2-sided reports or presentations. Organizations can save human resources by reducing time-consuming tasks like manually flipping and reintroducing papers to get a 2-sided document. Aside from the obvious benefits of duplex printing, it saves space for filing cabinets and whatnot.

The printer operates with processor capable of 133 Mega Hertz and 32 Mega Bytes of memory. The 4500n and 4500dn has a standard 64 Mega Bytes. If the standard memory is not enough for what a business need, the printer offers an option of upgrading to a total of 208 Mega Bytes. Internally, there are 3 memory slots for the DIMM installation.

The 4500's distinguishable quality is that it can receive compressed documents from other devices; like the HP 9100C Digital Sender. Much like the other files on the printer, it can print the received files in full, full-bodied color. It offers superior network-ability with HP's industry leading Web JetAdmin management software and its hardware component; the (EIO) HP JetDirect 600n. What is an EIO? EIO stands for Enhanced I/O. It is a hardware interface for printers created by HP. Users can add a network adapter and internal print server, plug-in functionality, and a hard disk. HP asserts that the EIO card is smaller than the MIO cards and that it is more energy proficient. It uses the PCI bus.

This particular model is best if a business wants to purchase the printer at a minimal price; because they are not sure if they need 3 trays maximum. With this printer, businesses can upgrade the paper capacity and handling. The differences between the 4500/4500n/4500dn are its additional paper management and hardware specs. All of which, is upgradeable from the 4500.
The standard paper capacity for the 4500 is 900 sheets for input and 250 sheets for output. Users can upgrade the output to a maximum of 250 sheets face-down and 150 sheets face-up. As with most HP printers, users can input a maximum of 10 envelopes.

The HP JetAdmin is best used if an organization utilizes up to 15 printers. It is significantly easy to manage all the printers through a single software interface. Users can manage infrastructure, troubleshoot, monitor, configure, and install from anywhere at any time. It helps streamline minimizing operating costs, printer utilization, and supplies management. There are some dramatic benefits from utilizing JetAdmin. Some benefits are that users can track network peripherals and printers. An instant alert feature notifies users when a printer needs attention. If a business is subject to peak-hours, administrators can configure and optimize print devices through the interface.

Cons:

The color-rate for output is a mere 4 pages per minute. There is a significant gap in time in comparison to the printer's ability to dish out black pages at a rate of 16 pages per minute. This printer can take envelopes but lacks an envelope feeder. It doesn't make sense adding functionality for envelopes but not create an isolated tray specifically for envelopes. HP no longer sells this printer, and it may lack necessary drivers to work with modern operating systems.  Third-party vendors may offer compatible drivers for the newer operating systems.
