HP LaserJet 4700 Review
The HP Color LaserJet 4700 Printer is a powerful and fast device with outstanding print quality, featuring a resolution of 600 dots per inch and a speed of 30 pages per minute. The network-ready 4700 has raised the bar once again with ImageREt 3600 and Colorsphere Toner, so that the user can enjoy a good printing experience.
With HP's new Colorsphere Toner the printing results are astonishing. The gloss makes colors look brighter and for more realistic images you have up to 40 percent higher gloss. This model of HP produces more refined differences in color and shade, more natural and realistic than before, so the print quality is one of the best available. The HP LaserJet 4700 Printer has an intelligent color calibration system, which will never happen during the printing process, so you won't have to wait for the printer to calibrate while it is printing your documents. The pace of the printer is a very good one, with up to 30 pages per minute for both mono and color. There's also a built-in duplexer, which allows automatically two sided printing at full speed. The Instant-on Technology reduces printer's warm-up time, so the first page will come out in less than 17 seconds. If the printer was previously used, and is still warm, the first page will come out in less than 11 seconds. The HP Color LaserJet 4700 Printer delivers durable, top-of-the-line cartridges, designed to perform longer. The official values of the color cartridges are 10.000 pages, while for the black cartridge HP gives an amount of 11.000 pages. The printer's input capacity is set at an incredible 2600 pages, with a standard input of 600, easily scalable with four another 500-sheet trays. The standard output is 500 pages or up to 750, but this is not even half impressive as the input capacity, which is bigger than many other models' in its class. The printer allows the user expanding capabilities and providing easy access to other solutions via two EIO slots and two flash memory card slots. There's also included the new generation of TCP/IPs, Gigabit Ethernet network compatibility and mass storage thanks to HP's 20 GB EIO Hard Disk. The printer can be connected through a USB 2.0. HP JetDirect Embedded Server is also included in all the models of this series. The option of printing material with password is featured in this model of printer. The printer is powered up by a 533MHz processor, which allows the complex documents to be translated into printed graphics and text faster, speeding up the printing process. The memory is a 288MB SDRAM, expandable to 512MB, along with 32MBs of flash memory on the formatter. This brings the maximum memory to 544 MBs, which should be enough for anyone. The high monthly duty cycle of the printer, 100.000 pages, lets you understand HP means business with this model. The printer accepts pages up to legal (8.5 inches by 14 inches). The HP Color LaserJet 4700 Printer supports several kinds of papers, such as plain, glossy, colored, preprinted, letterhead, recycled, HP tough and high gloss laser, but also envelopes, labels, cardstocks and transparent paper. The printer is compatible with Windows 2000+, Mac OS 9.x+, Mac OS X 10.1+, UNIX and HP Open VMS.
The device's dimensions are 22.9 by 20.5 by 23.5 inches and it weighs 105.1 lbs, so this printer will definitely not fit on your desk. Anyway, this is a model for office printing, so you won't buy it for home use. Furthermore, the standard input is not so good so you will probably have to install the other trays too. It means you will need even more space in your office. |
