When do I Replace a Fuser Maintenance Kit in the HP LaserJet 9040 Laser Printer?
The useful life of the components included in the fuser maintenance kit is approx. 350,000 pages. Yet, the actual lifespan of the fuser maintenance kit installed in your HP LaserJet 9040 Laser Printer will vary depending on the print patterns and the usage conditions. You can print a supplies status page to check the percentage of the maintenance kit that has been used. Please note that the excessive usage of the HIGH1 or HIGH2 fusing modes shortens the life of the installed fuser assembly unit.
You should install a new fuser maintenance kit when any of the listed messages or print-quality issues appears.
[50.X FUSER ERROR] – The printing process has been suspended due to a hardware problem. You should turn the printer off and then back on. Please test the laser printer and replace the fuser maintenance kit if the problem is still present.
[PERFORM PRINTER MAINTENANCE] – The components of the installed fuser maintenance kit are at the end of their projected life. To ensure optimal print quality, you should install a new fuser maintenance kit.
You have replaced the toner cartridge, but one of the listed print-quality problems remains.
How to Install a Fuser Maintenance Kit in the HP LaserJet 9040 Laser Printer
In the first step of the replacement procedure, you must turn the laser printer off by pressing the [Power] button, and then unplug the power cord. After that, you must open the front cover of your HP LaserJet 9040 Laser Printer, and then rotate the green lock release lever down to the labeled unlocked position. Now, you must press the lock release button of the used transfer roller and pull the roller towards you to remove it from the monochrome laser printer. Please be aware that skin oils can damage the new transfer roller. Therefore, you should avoid touching the black foam portion of the new transfer roller. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must remove the new transfer roller from the plastic bag, and then slide the new component into the slot until you hear a click. Once the new transfer roller clicks into place, you must rotate the green lock release lever back to the locked position, and then push the front cover towards the main unit until it locks into place. Next, you must remove the paper trays from the laser printer, and then locate the used paper rollers inside the tray cavity. At this stage of the replacement procedure, you must remove the used paper rollers from the laser printer and the two trays, and then install the new ones. Please do not remove the black spacer from behind the separation roller. Once the new paper rollers are installed, you must insert the trays back into the laser printer, and then open the left door. After that, you must pull the duplex unit out of the HP LaserJet 9040 Laser Printer, and then turn the two fuser levers inwards. Now, you must remove the exhausted fuser assembly unit from the main unit, and then unpack the new component. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must insert the new fuser assembly unit firmly into the printer, and then lock the new component into place by turning the two levers outwards. After that, you must reinstall the duplex unit, close the left door, and then reconnect all printer cables. Next, you must press and hold the [OK] button, and then press the power button. Finally, you must ensure that the three LEDs are on, press the [^] key, and then press [OK].
