HP LaserJet P1505 Printer Review
The HP LaserJet P1505 Printer is an inexpensive and fast device, delivering more than 20 pages per minute, but being poorly designed. It is a monochrome device featuring 1200 dots per inch, but misses the built-in duplexer for automatic two-sided printing. The device is designed for home use or small offices and it can handle more printer jobs without refilling than most of its competitors.
The official working rate of this printer is 23 pages per minute, but some reviews show the device can deliver up to even 26 pages per minute. I do not know what to think about this, if the speed could have been higher, HP would definitely advertise it better, but on the other side why would some users lie? I think if you want to buy this device, you might be surprised by its speed. The first page comes out in 6.5 seconds if the printer hasn't been warmed up previously, which is a very good value.
The HP LaserJet P1505 works at a maximum resolution of 600 x 600 dots per inch and features HP's FastREs 1200.
The monthly duty cycle is set at 8000 pages. This means the producer recommends the users not to print more than 8000 pages per month because it will decrease the printer's life. On the other side there is the recommended monthly volume, ranged somewhere between 250 and 2000 pages per month. If you want your device to always work at optimal parameters, you should always considering printing such a volume.
The device is powered up by a 266 MHz processor, which is good enough for the kind of purposes this printer has been designed for.
The printer supports the following media types: Paper (laser, plain, photo, rough, vellum), envelopes, labels, cardstock, transparencies and postcards and supports the following media sizes: A4, A5, A6, B5, postcards, envelopes (C5, DL, B5).
The input tray should be enough for a small company: 250 sheets thanks to one input tray. There is also an 10-sheet priority feed slot by default. The output handles 150 sheets, thanks to the only output tray available.
The HP LaserJet P1505 can be connected through the standard USB 2.0.
The device supports the following operating systems: Microsoft® Windows® 2000, XP Home, XP Professional, XP Professional x64, Server 2003 (32/64 bit); Certified for Windows Vista™; Mac OS X v10.2.8; v10.3, v10.4 or higher.
The printer is easy to use in a small office, thanks to its very good dimensions: 15 by 10 by 9 inches. The printer is also light, weighing 13 lbs.
The device is Energy Star certified.
The device features a small 2 MB memory, which is not even expandable, so this goes as a negative in our book. The printer does not feature a hard disk.
The HP LaserJet P1505 does not feature a built-in duplexer, meaning the printer can't print on both sides of the paper automatically. The duplexer should be in every printer designed today, but this model of HP misses it.
The users can't buy additional paper trays, meaning they will have to do their job with the 250-sheet input tray and the 150-sheet output bin.
The quality for the monochrome graphics results is poor, so you don't want this printer if you have lots of printing jobs of this kind.
The printer doesn't feature an LCD screen.
