Brother intelliFAX-1270e Fax Machine is a capable monochrome fax machine that is ideal for your small business or home office. IntelliFAX-1270e offers fast (9 sec/page), convenient black and white copying, and includes a practical telephone handset, speakerphone, and caller ID. This unit also features quick scan memory transmission and fax broadcasting to multiple locations.

Pros:

IntelliFAX-1270e features a 14.4K bps fax modem that can transmit black and white data as fast as 9 seconds per page. In the event that this machine runs out of paper during an incoming fax its built-in 512KB memory can store up to 25 pages for printing at a later time. 1270e faxes at a resolution of 203 x 98 lines/inches in standard mode, 203 x 196 lines/inches in fine Mode, and 203 x 392 lines/inches in superfine mode. 1860c also allows you to scan a fax once and then automatically broadcast it to multiple recipients, a great timesaving feature.

This machine features a 200-sheet paper-input capacity, which is more than the more luxurious-but-expensive intelliFAX-1860c. This affords the user a lot of confidence that faxing operations will not be interrupted by paper shortages during busy office days, where it may be difficult to “police” the machine’s paper supply.

Automatic Fax/Telephone switching lets you receive both fax and voice calls on a single line. This frees the user from the stress of having telephone conversations interrupted by incoming faxes or vice versa.

Intellifax-1270e supports up to 99 pages of black and white multi-copying at a resolution of 400 X 400 dpi. It also features a sorting function and copy reduction/enlargement of 50% - 150%.

This unit’s price (under $100) is an attractive feature that helps to make up for 1270e’s faults.

Cons:

IntelliFAX-1270e can only fax/print in black-and-white, and although this machine gives you a lot of functionality for cheap, you might find yourself in a situation where a basic color faxing/copying function will be sorely missed. 

While decent for small businesses, this device’s fax speed of 9 seconds per page (black and white) may leave you frustrated on particularly busy days when your business demands a large amount of fax activity.
