Product Description
Kyocera Mita KM-4050 Toner Cartridge - 34,000 Pages

This Toner Cartridge prints 34000 pages with an average 5% page coverage. The amount of pages can vary depending upon the amount of ink printed onto each page. (5% page coverage is a standard Kyocera Mita specification)

This product comes with a 6 month Warranty against any defects (including free replacement). We stand behind our products 100%, as these are not manufactured by Kyocera Mita.

Why toner? Why not call it ink? Regular ink dries quickly, which is why cartridges for inkjet printers do not last long. Laser Printers use toner, which is ink in the form of powder. A sealed toner cartridge can be stored for 2+ years prior to usage.

Kyocera Mita KM-4050 Review

Overview:

Another step-up on producing reliable multifunctional device is the Kyocera Mita KM-4050. With the incorporation of Kyocera’s innovative advancements, it is a clear choice for businesses that seek workflow boost in their networked environment. Its multifunctional features allow users to print, copy, scan and fax documents across the network. The structure is similar to that of KM-3035/KM-4035/KM-5035; seemingly like two cream-colored rectangular box styled with some panels in dark gray color attached together with the other one to be shorter. A dark gray panel is then attached in a slanting manner to the main engine which has interesting highlights in it. These include an LCD display and an array of buttons including the larger ones in yellow, orange and green color used for some basic functions.

Pros:

For a complete solution of unprecedented document productivity, KM-4050 presents a document box function which provides a way to store, secure and access critical documents and data. It is of four types-- custom box, job box, media box, fax box-- which handles individual functions for maximum functionality. For first time users of little or no technical knowledge, LCD display offers animated help guidance which is in colored touch screen for easy access of all functions. And the KM-NET suite of software, tools and utilities provides centralized network device management for easy monitoring, diagnostics and accounting.

Serious businesses really get what they want with it can deliver a maximum monthly volume of 150,000 pages. The system memory is standard at 512 MB RAM which is upgradable to 1 GB for better performance and is combined with its 600 MHz processor. It has a 40 GB hard disk drive to suffice the need of storage of a small workgroup. The output speeds further justify its use in boosting document productivity. Warm-up time is within 30 seconds and a first copy out time in within 3-5 seconds. Per minute output speed is notable at 40 PPM (pages per minute) for letter size and 23 PPM for legal size and for ledger size. Paper sheet capacity is sufficient at standard 1,200 sheets which if still insubstantial can be expanded for up to 4,200 paper sheets.

Auto magnification and paper select is just one of the many beneficial features of the copy functions of KM-4050. It provides a lot of flexibility with it allowing you to choose text mode, photo mode or both in its imaging modes and has an up to 999 continuous copy feature which then auto resets to 1.

The scan system provides 200, 300, 400 and 600 DPI resolutions at either color or monochrome scanning. KM-4050 can scan black and white documents at a pretty impressive speed at 50 OPM (originals per minute) and color documents at 25 OPM via the dual scan document processor which can be saved and sent as file formats in PDF and TIFF for monochrome scanning and PDF, JPG and TIFF for color scanning. Its scanning is TWAIN compliant and has standard scanning functions including scan to email, scan to folder and scan to FTP.

The super G3-compatible fax system is excellent at transmission speed of approximately 3 seconds per page and modem speed of 33.6 Kbps. And fax image modes are of three options: Normal, fine, super fine and ultra fine.

Cons:

KM-4050 should leave you wonder what is inside it in its monstrous dimensions of 23.6”W x 25.4”D x 29.3”H making it relatively bulky and the weight of 188 lbs. making it heavy and mobility is nearly impossible. Operating system compatibility is also a hassle as by default, it is incompatible to newer operating systems namely Windows Vista and 7 since its compatibility are on operating systems prior to its release or in the case of Windows OS, its compatibility is only until Windows XP and so driver/s (if available, which may be found directly in the official manufacturer’s site) is/are needed to be downloaded and installed to be compatible with these newer operating systems.
