Lexmark E250DN Review
The Lexmark E250DN is the network ready version of the Lexmark E250 hardware. This 30 page per minute desktop printer offers an impressive first page out time from energy save mode and a built in Ethernet port, making it a perfect device to share among a workgroup that does not keep their printer in constant operation, but still requires occasional, very prompt printing.
The Lexmark E250DN is the absolute perfect printer for a very specific set of users. One of the device’s most outstanding features is its 7.5 second first page out time that applies when the device is in standby more or energy save mode alike. This means that even when the device is only using a trivial amount of energy via its eco friendly mode, users will not end up stuck with a horrible warm up time when printing from this mode. When using the energy save mode, there is no penalty in print time, making the device ideal for users who need only print occasionally.
It would have been nice to see an LCD readout screen on the Lexmark E250DN, even if it was an extremely basic one. Trying to interpret the blink signals on the front of a stripped down printer case can be confusing and less than enlightening. Users can take advantage of their included software to monitor printer updates but, frankly, who wants to do that? A simple alphanumeric single line screen would have done the trick. There are five different LED lights on the front of the machine and when it is in trouble, these lights will blink in various combinations that you will need the user guide to interpret, which is obviously a tedious task.
