The HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 is an all-in-one printer that produces professional and high quality results when it comes to document production. With its impressively compact design and ability to save costs, the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 is a perfect multifunction machine for home and office users that have high demand for quality that few multifunction printers can offer.
The HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 has a standard speed of up to 15 pages per minute on black outputs for both print and copy, while producing up to 11 ppm for color outputs. For its maximum speeds, the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 offers up to as much as 35 ppm for black and 34 ppm for color prints and copies. It uses HP Thermal Inkjet for its print technology to provide such speeds and it is also able to produce 4 x 6 inches photos as fast as 82 seconds. For its print resolution, the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 has a maximum of 4,800 x 1,200 dots per inch on color when printed on an advanced photo paper while offering a standard 1,200 x 1,200 dpi. For black prints, the highest the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 can offer is up to 1,200 x 1,200 dpi. To help achieve such resolutions, the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 employs a 384 MHz processor and a 64 MB in accomplishing complex and multiple tasks. The HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 also offers borderless printing and direct print from memory cards and PictBridge cameras.
Copy resolution is up to 1,200 x 600 dpi for black and color text and graphics, while the maximum multiple copies for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 is up to 99 pages. Reduction and enlargement options are from 25 to 400% and support to letter, legal, statement, executive and envelopes for paper media types. Recommended weight support for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 is from 20 to 24 lbs.
The HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 offers standard connectivity of one USB 2.0, Ethernet, PictBridge and an RJ-11 for the fax function. It also supports a variety of memory card types through its four memory card slots, such as Compact Flash type I and II, Memory Stick and Memory Stick PRO, Secure Digital and MultiMedia Cards among others. Other cards such as MMC and MagicGate cards are supported conditionally, while Memory Stick Duo and Pro duo are supported only through an adapter.
The scanning function of the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 is just as impressive, able to churn out resolutions of up to 4,800 dpi for its optical resolution. Hardware resolution is up to 2,400 x 4,800 dpi, while enhanced resolution 19,200 dpi. The HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 also offers 48-bit on its depth and 256 on its grayscale levels. It uses CIS for its scanning technology, and allows maximum scanning size of 8.5 x 11.7 inches.
Fax resolutions offer up to 203 x 98 dpi on standard black outputs, while the maximum is at 300 x 300 dpi. Color fax is up to 203 x 196 dpi. The HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 fax feature has options for speed dial, program dial, monitor dial, redial, auto answer and manual faxing. It also supports auto fax reduction option, while the fax memory can store up to 125 fax pages. It can also store up to 99 numbers on its speed dial and a maximum broadcast locations up to 48 locations. Fax speed is as fast as 3 seconds per page through its fax modem that has a 33.6 Kbps speed.
For its paper handling, the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 has automatic duplex functions for easy two-side printing. It has a standard input tray with a 250-sheet capacity and a 35-sheet automatic document feeder, while an optional 250-sheet tray can also be added. For its output capacity, the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 provides up to 150 sheets.
The HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 sports a 2-line LCD display panel, which for a multifunction machine is not quite impressive, considering other multifunction printers have touchscreen LCD panels. The HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 is also a bit noisy producer, registering up to 63 decibels when active.
