SHARP AR-M257 TONER CARTRIDGE

Sharp AR-M257 Toner Cartridge - 25,000 Pages
  38 IN STOCK NOW

Price:  $65.89
Product Description
Toner Cartridge for Sharp AR-M257 Laser Printer

This Toner Cartridge prints 25000 pages with an average 5% page coverage. The amount of pages can vary depending upon the amount of ink printed onto each page. (5% page coverage is a standard Sharp specification)

This product comes with a 6 month Warranty against any defects (including free replacement). We stand behind our products 100%, as these are not manufactured by Sharp.

Why toner? Why not call it ink? Regular ink dries quickly, which is why cartridges for inkjet printers do not last long. Laser Printers use toner, which is ink in the form of powder. A sealed toner cartridge can be stored for 2+ years prior to usage.

Product Manuals
Sharp AR-M257 Toner Cartridge Replacement

When a toner cartridge in the Sharp AR-M257 machine has run completely out, a CHANGE THE TONER CARTRIDGE message will appear on the display and the printer will cease to make copies. Before this happens, users can monitor the amount of toner left in the machine by pressing and holding down the COPY button which will result in a toner update appearing on screen. When toner drops below 25% capacity, a TONER SUPPLY IS LOW message will constantly be displayed.

When it is time to change the Sharp AR-M257’s toner cartridge, begin by opening the front cover of the machine. The cover can be unlatched by pressing lightly on both sides of it and singing it downwards. The toner cartridge inside can then be released by pressing the locking latch button on the front of the cartridge.

Once unlatched, the cartridge can be pulled free of the machine, but be sure to support it as it is being pulled out as it could still potentially spill toner. It should also be stored afterwards in a plastic bag to prevent spilling.

Unwrap a new toner cartridge and give it quite a few good shakes left and right and back and forth. Remove the protective tape from the side of the cartridge but NOT the pull tab from the end of the cartridge. First, insert the cartridge into the machine while pressing the release latch and make sure it locks into place. Now pull the tab and close the front cover. The cartridge is ready for use.

Sharp AR-M257 Making a Standard Copy

Begin copying with the document glass by opening the cover of the copy machine. Make sure there is no material in the automatic document feeder at this time. When placing originals on the document glass, be sure that they are faced down and edged up to the UPPER LEFT corner of the glass. A small arrow points at this corner as a reminder.

Close the cover onto the paper, unless you are copying a three dimensional object, in which case simply close it gently as far as it will go, keeping out as much light as possible. Double check that the print material in the tray that is active is the same size as the input material. If the paper sizes do not match, new paper can be loaded or resizing functions can be adjusted.

When ready to copy, select the number of copies to be made by entering the number into the keypad. Press CLEAR to start over if a mistake is made. If no other copy functions are to be adjusted, press the green START button to begin copying.

Sharp AR-M257 Changing Paper Type and Size Settings

When the type or size of paper in one of the paper trays is changed, the settings must also be changed to match the new input material. Settings must be changed before or after a copy job; not during.

1) Make sure new print material is properly loaded into the tray.
2) Press the dedicated CUSTOM SETTINGS button.
3) Press the TRAY SETTINGS button on screen.
4) Select the correct tray to be adjusted.
5) Select the correct paper type and size if necessary by pressing the SIZE button.
6) Hit OK.
7) When prompted, check the paper tray.

Sharp AR-M257 Review

Overview:

With a large 8.1 inch touch screen and features such as an ID card shot function, the Sharp AR-M257 is certainly equipped with all the bells and whistles one would expect in a current document processing machine. The unit’s overall performance speeds leave a little to be desired but, overall, the unit is solid throughout.

Pros:

While the Sharp AR-M257 is, at heart, a copy machine, it is also capable of executing PC prints and, with an optional Super G3 Fax package, sending and receiving faxes over the phone line. The unit is built to handle large format paper sized up to 11 x 17 inches, though printing to this speed will reduce the already mediocre print speed down to 13 pages or copies per minute.

The device’s print speed is marginally slow, but its first copy out time of only 4.8 seconds is outstanding. Possibly even more impressive is the unit’s warm up time of only 23 seconds. While many printers in the same vein as the Sharp AR-M257 take between one and two minutes to warm up, Sharp’s cutting edge technology significantly reduces this time.

With a 100 sheet automatic document feeder, the Sharp AR-M257 is already positioned to impress when it comes to loading input material, but it doesn’t stop there. The unit is equipped with a reversing feeder that has single pass technology. This means that the scanner can absorb data from both sides of a page at one time. Double sided input material will take no longer to scan or input for copies than single sided pages.

Paper storage is sufficient for this device and consists of two full ream sized 500 sheet paper trays that are accompanied by a 100 sheet manual bypass tray. The standard trays work only with paper up to 21 lbs in thickness, while the bypass tray can be used to load multiple envelopes, transparencies, and even some card stock into the machine. Optional paper storage accessories include a 500 sheet paper feed unit and a 1000 sheet (500 x 2) unit that could certainly help to cut back on refill requirements.

Cons:

The Sharp AR-M257’s overall print and copy speed is right on the fence between being acceptable and just plain too slow. At 25 pages per minute for both standard PC printing and stand alone copying, the device is a little behind the times when it comes to the area of raw performance. Users do have the option of purchasing the device’s sister unit, the Sharp AR-M317, that can pull off 31 letter sized copies per minute and 17 oversized copies per minute, but this boost in speed also comes with an increase in price.

The device’s scan resolution is absolutely atrocious. The unit’s 400 x 400 dot per inch optical scan resolution is something that would be better suited for a ten year old fax machine than a medium sized copy machine. The unit up-scales copy resolution to 600 x 600 dots per inch, but quality will still be lost due to the optical scan resolution.
