When do I Replace a Drum Unit in the Sharp FO-6550

The Sharp FO-6550 can print up to 20,000 pages with one drum unit. One of the listed indications will appear when the installed drum unit reaches the end of its useful life.

� The [Drum] indicator flashes

� The [Drum] indicator is lit

� Repetitive image defects appear at regular intervals

� The message [DRUM LIFE OVER] is displayed

How to Install a Drum Unit in the Sharp FO-6550

In the initial step of the replacement procedure, you must open the top cover by pressing its release button, and then pull the toner cartridge out of the Sharp FO-6550. After that, you must remove the exhausted drum unit from the main compartment, and then take the new drum unit out of the protective bag. Now, you must align the ends of the new drum unit with the guides of the compartment, and then insert the new component into place. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must insert the toner cartridge into the drum unit, and then push it down until it clicks into place. Finally, you must close the top cover of your Sharp FO-6550, and then reset the drum counter by pressing [LIFE] – [3] – [START].
