Much like all the printers in Canon’s imagePROGRAF line, the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF600 is capable of large format, borderless printing in full color through use of a paper roll or standard paper sheets. With exceptional print quality and the latest in Canon technology, the device goes above and beyond consumer level expectations and stands as a truly professional, large format inkjet.

Pros:

While many large format printers are limited to the standard 17 inch size, the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF600 is a true 24 inch monster that can print posters two feet wide. When utilizing a paper roll, users can create huge, full color banners that offer photo quality detail over every square inch.

When using the double matte black printing function, black density is increased by using both black print cartridges, and overall print speed can be cut down as well. Single print heads utilizing Canon’s FINE technology incorporate 15,360 ultra high density nozzles that make ultra small ink drops possible. With a droplet size of 4 picoliters, smooth gradation and accurate color creates sparkling imagery. The print heads are also monitored by a non firing nozzle detection and compensation function that seeks out malfunctioning nozzles and adjusts printing so no quality is lost.

Posters and line drawings have never looked better thanks to the exceptional Canon hardware and included poster creating software that gives users easy access to the tools required to create beautiful oversized imagery. The unit’s built in L-COA Controller acts as the brain of the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF600, and provides not only perfect print accuracy, but high speeds as well. Cons:

Though a huge format printer such as the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF600 can produce very unique results, it also requires high cost consumables and expensive hardware, making cost per page run very high. The iPF600 should really only be considered by those who truly require frequent very large format printing, otherwise the overhead cost of the device will never be recovered.

The unit itself is also very large in size, and has dimensions of 39.0" x 39.3" x 38.6” (W x D x H) and a total weight, when fully loaded, of a very heavy 190 lbs. This makes the device appropriate only for those offices that have space for a floor standing printer.
