Canon PIXMA MP490 Printer Review

Overview:

The outstanding features of the Pixma MP490 make it stand out from other printers in its class. Canon has reduced the size of its printer and now they are compact and look stylish. It is cased in high-gloss light grey and black and looks very chic.

Pros:

The Pixma MP490 from Canon was built with practicality in mind. There is no paper tray underneath the machine, but the rear tray works well. The Contact Image Sensor (CIS) scanner is both quiet and quick in use and produces surprisingly good images.

Flip up the cover to the control panel and you'll find it's fitted with a 45mm LCD display. The control panel allows you to view thumbnails and displays status messages.

With the Pixma MP 490 you get three memory card slots which include CompactFlash and Microdrive. However it does lack a PictBridge/USB socket.

With the Canon Pixma MP490 you get an all-in-one printer at an affordable price. It does an outstanding job of printing text without spreading the ink. Color prints are bright and dense and demonstrate an excellent range of hues. Photocopies produced with this printer are good with only slight lightening of colors in the copy. Photo prints show plenty of shadow, outstanding natural colors, and smooth gradations.

Cons:

This printer is quite basic and only prints black and white text at 6.9 pages per minute. It is a good value for the price, but it many lack some of the functions you need to get the job done.
