How to Replace the Prink Pack in an Epson PictureMate Dash PM-260 Photo Printer

Check the status of the current Print Pack installed in the Epson PictureMate Dash PM-260 by pressing the MENU button. Select MAINTENANCE and then CHECK PRINT PACK STATUS. The printer will then display a rough image indicating the current status of the print pack. When it is time for replacement, the message PRINT PACK LOW will appear on the unit’s screen.

When a print cartridge is removed from the Epson PictureMate Dash PM-260 it must be replaced immediately so do not remove the old print pack until a new one is on hand. Replace the pack with the printer ON but not in operation.

Open the small door on the bottom rear of the Epson PictureMate Dash PM-260 and unlock the Print Pack by sliding the lock lever to the RELEASE position. Once unlocked, remove the cartridge and recycle it properly. Always replace the cartridge with a brand new one as attempting to refill it will void the warranty on the device.

Unpack a new photo cartridge, being careful never to touch the GREEN chip visible on the side of the cartridge. Slide it into position in the printer where the old one once was. The cartridge WILL NOT slide entirely into place manually, as it will be moved all the way into the machine when the lock lever is closed. Once the lever is in the LOCK position, close the rear door to the device and continue printing.

How to Safely Transport an Epson PictureMate Dash PM-260 Photo Printer

The Epson PictureMate Dash PM-260 is specifically designed for portability and includes a convenient carrying handle, but must be prepared before transporting. When transporting the printer, the optional battery can come in handy for mobile printing, as can the optional PMBAGO6 carrying case. When travelling only a short distance, you do not need to pack the device up.

If you are using a CD, remove it from the drive. Turn the machine off by pressing the power button and wait until the ON light goes out. Be sure to remove all printed material and paper from the device.

Close the paper tray and lower the paper support and the screen so that the printer is completely closed up. Unplug the power cable as well as any other cables that are connected such as a USB cord. Place cables in the PictureMate accessory box. When shipping the unit, place it back in its original box when available.

How to Use the Optional Battery in an Epson PictureMate Dash PM-260 Photo Printer

The Epson PictureMate Dash PM-260 does not require a power outlet for operation when the optional battery is on hand. A charged batter is good for printing up to 100 photos or about 60 if using a CD drive.

Turn the printer off to install the batter and unplug its power cord. Release the rear cover by pressing its latch and snap the battery into position so that it locks into place. The battery must be charged after installation and can be done so simply by plugging in the power cord to the printer once the battery is in position.

The Epson PictureMate Dash is fast and only will run you around $100. It offers many features and is perfect for any small business looking for a printer. However print quality is not very good with the Epson PictureMate Dash. If you are looking for a printer for around $100, this printer is a good option.

Pros:

The Epson PictureMate Dash PM260 is well designed and only weighs 5.3 pounds. One nice thing it has to offer is its 3.6-inch LCD that flips up. This control panel consists of a menu button; four direction keys and an OK button for navigating the menus; a zoom button; a thumbnail display key; and stop and start buttons. With it you also get a USB port for PicBridge devices. Because the printer is small, it's not difficult to access the USB port, but it would be more convenient to have it on the front of the printer.
With the Epson PictureMate Dash PM-260 you get outstanding print quality. Images are clear and vivid and don’t smudge. Text prints are also outstanding and don’t smear. Fonts as small as four points can easily be read.

Cons:

One drawback to this printer is that it does not come with wireless printing. Furthermore the lithium-ion battery is optional and will set you back an extra $50. When purchasing the Epson PictureMate Dash PM-260, you will be nickel and dimed by the cost of all the optional features.
