The initial starter roll/ribbon installed in your Sharp UX355L Plain-Paper Fax Machine has a resource for approximately 30 letter-size pages. When the imaging film/Ribbon (the starter roll) runs out of resource, you will see the following message ``FILM END`` on your UX355L`s display. Once you`ve replaced the exhausted imaging film/Ribbon, your Sharp UX355L Plain-Paper Fax Machine will print up to 200 pages.

Initially, you must pull the paper release plate forward and remove all sheets of paper. Then, you must open the operation panel by grasping the finger hold and pulling towards you. Now, you must open the print compartment cover by pulling the green lever on the right side forward and remove the imaging film cartridge with the use of its front side handle. After that, you must turn the cartridge to its other side and remove the used film by pulling it up. Once the old/exhausted film is out, you must take off the green gears and start unpacking the new imaging film, but do not remove the holding band yet. Now, you must fit the green gears from the old imaging film to the new one, but remember to insert the large gear to the green end of the empty spool. Please note, that the protrusion on each gear must be fitted firmly into one of the slots in the end of the spool. After the installation of the gears, you must insert the new imaging film into the imaging film cartridge by inserting the large gear into the large holder and then the small gear into its holder. Once the new imagine film is in the cartridge, you can cut the holding tape and slowly unroll the imaging film, so you will be able to insert the small gears into their holders. In the next step of the Imaging Film/Ribbon replacement procedure, you must turn the cartridge over and insert it back into the print compartment. Now, you must rotate the large gear toward you, in order to taut the imaging film, and then you can close the print compartment. Next, you can close the operation panel by pressing down on both sides (it will click into place) and load paper in the paper tray. Finally, you must initialize the new imaging film/ribbon by pressing the following buttons [Function]-[6]-[#]- you will see the following message ``INITIALIZE FILM`` on the display-[START/MEMORY]. Once you`ve pressed the above buttons in the same order as shown, you can test your Sharp UX355L Plain-Paper Fax Machine.
