Overview:

The Brother MFC-210C is the lowest end, and therefore most affordable, of all the Brother multifunctional units in the series. This inkjet printer is the perfect solution for the small business on a budget due to its incorporation of a variety of office accessories into a single, affordable unit.

Pros:

With print resolutions of up to 6,000 x 1,200 dots per inch, the Brother MFC-210C is a competent photo printer as well as a multifunctional device. The unit offers print speeds of up to 20 pages per minute in black and white and up to 15 pages per minute in color, which is impressive when you consider that this device is available for less than 100 dollars.

Probably the most attractive feature of the Brother MFC-210C is its incredibly low price. To be able to fax, print, scan, and copy on a unit in the double digit price range is a feat unto itself, and the unit itself is also quite physically small. With its compact design and easy setup, the device is perfect for home use or even a small office setup. Other user friendly features include front loading memory card slots that accept data directly from digital cameras’ cards for printing, while a hefty set of dedicated controls makes it easy to navigate through menus and options.

The unit is fully capable of operating as both a stand alone copy machine and stand alone fax machine without ever being connected to a PC and, with such a small price tag, it would be reasonable to use the device as such.

As a photo printer, the Brother MFC-210C holds its own. The unit offers true borderless printing for all standard photo sizes including 4 x 6 inches. When dealing with standard paper, a convenient 100 sheet front loading tray makes paper refills fast and easy, and a USB interface keeps users’ connections fast.

Cons:

The Brother MFC-210C, much like other bargain all in one units, does come with its set of limitations. The scanning function in particular is not easily adjustable and is therefore much less versatile than those found on units capable of fine tuning quality and size of scans.

The device’s fax function is also very limited in that it not only lacks an automatic fax feeder but also that the unit’s built in modem is only capable of faxing at speeds of 14.4 Kbps. If fax function is a priority, buyers should look elsewhere for faster performance. The unit also lacks luxury features found in higher end models, such as network abilities or a built in ADF.
