Please note that the media sensor is located on the top side of the center guide. Thus, you must remove all of the listed components from the HP DesignJet 1050c Wide Format InkJet Printer.

Please follow the detailed instructions provided below to remove the listed components and to replace the media sensor.
Left Hand Cover
You must remove all ink cartridges from the HP DesignJet 1050c Wide Format InkJet Printer, and then switch the machine off. After that, you must unplug the power cord, and then remove the two screws from the small cover that is located at the back of the left hand cover. Now, you must push the tube holder up to release it from the left hand cover, and then release the complete assembly by twisting the two latches outwards. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must slide the cartridge tube connector slightly towards you, and then disconnect the cable of the tube connector. Once the tube connector cable is disconnected, you must disconnect the air tube, and then detach the cartridge tube connector from the rear side of the left hand cover. Next, you must remove the two screws from the left hand trim, and then remove the screws securing the left hand cover to the main frame. Finally, you must detach the left hand cover by pulling it away from the main unit.
Right Hand Cover
Initially, you must remove the printhead cleaners from the machine, and then push the service station carriage to the back. Next, you must remove the left rear cover of the electronics module, and then unplug the cable of the front panel from the electronics module. After that, you must unplug the cable of the aerosol fan from the electronics module, and then remove the two screws from the right hand trim. Now, you must remove the screws securing the right hand cover to the main frame, and then remove the right hand cover.
Electronics Module
In the first step of the removal procedure, you must remove the left and right rear covers from the HP DesignJet 1050c Wide Format InkJet Printer, and then remove the tail deflectors and the rear platen. After that, you must detach the DIMM cover from the electronics module by removing the four screws, and then release the retaining clips of the DIMMs. Now, you must remove the DIMMs, and then remove the screws securing the EIO card to the electronics module. In the next step of the removal procedure, you must detach the HDD by removing the two mounting screws, and then disconnect the trailing cable. Once the trailing cable is disconnected, you must unplug all cables from the left and right side of the electronics module, and then remove the two screws that are located at the bottom ends of the electronics module. Finally, you must loosen the two remaining screws, and then remove the electronics module from the HP DesignJet 1050c Wide Format InkJet Printer.
Ink Supply Station Assembly
You must lift the front side of the ink supply station assembly to detach its front support from the side frame, and then release the rear support by pushing the assembly towards the main unit. After that, you must remove the ink supply station assembly by sliding it to the left.
Clutch Assembly
You must detach the Paper Entry gear by removing the two tabs, and then remove the two screws that secure the clutch bracket to the main frame. After that, you must remove the axle screw from the clutch assembly, and then remove the clutch assembly from the main unit.
Service Station Assembly
Initially, you must unplug the cables of the window switch and the right door switch from the service station, and then unclip the cable of the Scan-Axis Motor from the service station. Next, you must slide the carriage assembly to the middle of the compartment, and then remove the two screws that are located between the slider rods of the carriage assembly. Finally, you must loosen the long screw that fixes the service station to the main frame, and then remove the service station assembly.
Vacuum Fan
You must remove the four mounting screws of the vacuum fan, and then remove the vacuum fan from the HP DesignJet 1050c Wide Format InkJet Printer.
Center Guide
Once the vacuum fan is removed, you must lift the paper entry assembly, and then remove the screws securing the left side of the center guide. After that, you must remove the screws that secure the right side of the center guide, and then remove the center guide.
Media Sensor
You must detach the used media sensor from the center guide, and then unpack the new media sensor. After that, you must attach the new media sensor to the center guide, and then finalize the replacement procedure by reinstalling all previously removed components.
