Lexmark X500n Printer Review

Overview:

The Lexmark X500n is compact and perfect for a small office or home environment. Color images produced by it are outstanding. This multifunctional device can print, scan, and copy. It measures 21 inches tall, 19 inches wide, and 17.2 inches deep.

Pros:

Output quality is excellent with the Lexmark X500n. Text is sharp and easily readable at 4 point fonts. Color images are accurate and show no signs of dithering.

Toner cartridges are easy to install and are affordable. High capacity toner cartridges yield 5,000 pages for black and 3,000 pages for color. The high-capacity cartridges may cost you more money initially, but will save you money over the long run.

The Lexmark X500n can easily be shared with other computers. Scanning must be done to a computer attached by USB, and must be invoked by the software. It comes with an automatic document feeder with a 35 sheet paper capacity.

This unit offers many great features as well as above average printing speeds. Lack of network scanning and a multipurpose tray are its only major downsides.

Cons:

Paper handling is limited with the Lexmark X500n. It only has a 250 sheet input tray that can be expanded to 530 pages. Another drawback is that the X500n has no multipurpose tray or slot, so alternate media must be placed in the main tray.
