Apple LaserWriter 600 Toner Cartridge - 6800 Pages

Price:  $37.89
Product Description
Toner Cartridge for Apple LaserWriter 600 Laser Printer

This toner cartridge prints 6800 pages with average 5% coverage (Nearly all Printer manufacturers base their ink/toner cartridge yields on 5% page coverage).

This product comes with a 6 month Warranty against any defects (including free replacement). We stand behind our products 100%, as these are not manufactured by Apple.

Why toner? Why not call it ink? Regular ink dries quickly, which is why cartridges for inkjet printers do not last long. Laser Printers use toner, which is ink in the form of powder. A sealed toner cartridge can be stored for 2+ years prior to usage.

Apple LaserWriter 600 Review

Apple is one of the biggest businesses in the world and is known for developing extremely high quality products that are both stylish and reliable. The Apple LaserWriter 600 is a printer that has been designed for work within a home, or small workgroup. Read on to find out more about this product, and how it compares to others in its market.

Although it's not the newest of machine, the LaserWriter 600 still packs a few good qualities. Firstly, Apple makes it. Apple is a very big company and this is mainly because of the quality of products they have been producing over the years. This printer is no exception, and the build quality is outstanding. Even though this is what some would say a "budget" printer, it is still built with good materials and feels solid. If you were to drop it by accident, it wouldn't shatter on the floor like many other cheap products. By buying an Apple product, you are also guaranteeing reliability as well. This is important, especially in the office environment when sometimes it is essential to have a document printed on time.

It can reach around 4 prints per minute. This isn't very fast which is why it is best suited for home use, or a home office. It also only prints in black and white, and can reach a maximum resolution of 600 dpi. The printer comes with PostScript 2 included, as well as the following fonts included: 35.0 x PostScript, 64.0 x TrueType. The machine also comes with 2MB of RAM already installed. However, this can be upgraded to 6MB if needed which is very useful.

It has a total capacity of 100 sheets, and can handle a few different types of media. These include envelopes, plain paper, labels and transparencies. If you wish to use custom sizes, then the max it can reach is 8.5" x 14". It also accepts the following media sizes: B5, Executive, Letter A Size, A4 and Legal.

This is primarily based at users who already own Macintosh computers. This is because it can easily connect to an Apple Mac via the built in LocalTalk Port.

Another brilliant feature on this machine is the energy saving feature. The printer doesn't have an on/off switch. Instead of this, the printer is only active when you need a job to be completed. For example, the printer will be in standby mode using as little power as possible, and then when you send a job to it, it will wake up, do the job and go back to standby. This will save a lot of energy.

There are some disadvantages with this product also. The print speed of only 4 pages per minute is very slow, when you compare it to others. There are machines out there that are capable of producing around 15 prints per minute at around the same price. If you find yourself constantly using the printer then the 4 pages per minute will not be efficient enough for you.

The lack of features is another downfall of this product. A lot of machines in this day and age are offering more than one feature at a time. For example, a lot of them will offer a scanning and copying option as well as printing. This machine is only capable of printing though. You are paying for the name and quality more than the speed and features of the device. This machine is aimed more at user of a Macintosh computer, as it will allow them to connect very fast. But if you are using another computer, connecting it up might not be as quick as you though it would be.

For a machine that is built by Apple, you expect quality; and this is exactly what you get. However that quality does come at a sacrifice. It means that the machine has fewer features and can only print out at 4 pages per second, which is quite slow when comparing to others. If you are a fan of Apple though, and know their quality of products, you will find this machine useful for use in your home.
