BROTHER DCP-1000 DRUM

The drum unit installed in your Brother DCP-1000 is a consumable component, and its lifespan is defined by various factors, such as the number of printed pages per job (more pages per job = longer drum's lifespan), the type of the used paper, the used print settings, the percentage of page coverage (the higher % of page coverage decreases the drum's life), etc... Herein, the exact maximal number of prints possible with one drum unit couldn't be precisely specified. Normally, you should replace the installed drum unit, once the built-in monitoring system displays the following warning message ''CHANGE DRUM SOON'', or when the following message ''CHECK DRUM UNIT'' is displayed on the control LCD after a correct drum unit installation. However, you should also replace the drum unit installed in your DCP-1000, if any print quality issues are reappearing on the printed documents, because the majority of print quality issues are usually caused by an exhausted or faulty/damaged drum unit.

IMPORTANT: Some internal printer components will be very hot, if you have recently used your Brother DCP-1000.

Initially, you must open the scanner unit of your Brother DCP-1000 by pulling its lever towards you and lifting its front side slowly upwards. After that, you must take the exhausted drum unit out of the printer by carefully pulling it towards you, and then turn the colored lever of the toner cartridge counterclockwise until it stops, in order to unlock it from the exhausted component. In the next step, you must carefully pull the toner cartridge out of the drum unit, and then unpack the new drum unit, but without removing the plastic starter sheet. Immediately after that, you must insert the toner cartridge into the new drum unit (make sure that the stamped marks are aligned), and then turn the colored lock lever of the toner cartridge clockwise until it stops, in order to securely attach it to the new component and to open its shutter. Once the toner cartridge and the new drum unit are assembled, you must grab the new drum unit by its handles and insert it into the printer. Finally, you must close the scanner unit, and wait for the automatic initializing procedure to be completed. Please note that the plastic starter sheet will be automatically ejected during the initializing procedure.
