BROTHER DCP-7030 DRUM

The drum unit installed in your Brother DCP-7030 Multifunction Printer should be replaced, when the built-in monitoring system detects that this consumable component has reached the end of its useful life. The built-in system uses special drum sensors and counters to determine the condition/status of the installed drum unit, and once an abnormality occurs, the same system will display one of the messages listed and described below.

''Drum Error'' – In case that this error message is still appearing on the control LCD even after a corona wire cleaning has been performed, then the drum unit must be replaced, because it has reached the end of its useful life.

''Drum End Soon'' – This warning message indicates a nearly exhausted drum unit. You must replace the installed drum unit, because it will be no longer capable of producing high-quality prints, and a variety of print quality issues will inevitably appear very soon.

Please note that you can check the remaining print resource of the installed drum unit at any time by performing the short procedure included below.

Checking The Remaining Print Resource Of The Installed Drum Unit

1. Look at the top side of your printer and locate the control panel.
2. Press the [Menu] button, and then navigate to [3. Machine Info].
3. Press [OK].
4. Navigate to [3. Drum Life].
5. Press [OK] – The % of remaining drum's print resource will be displayed on the LCD.
6. Press [Stop/Exit] to restore the normal printer's mode.

In the initial step of the replacement procedure, you must open the front cover of your Brother DCP-7030 Multifunction Printer, in order the exhausted printer component to be accessible. Then, you must take the exhausted drum unit out of the machine by pulling it slowly towards you, but avoid touching the surrounding components (some components will be very hot) and the printer's electrodes (on the inner printer sides). Once the exhausted drum unit is out of the printer, you must detach the still useable toner cartridge by pulling it out while pushing down the green lock release lever, and then carefully unpack the new drum unit. Immediately after that, you must insert the toner cartridge into the new drum unit until it clicks, and then clean the primary corona wire of the new drum unit by gently sliding the green cleaning tab (on the top side of the drum unit) along the cleaning channel. Please note that you must slide the green cleaning tab at least 5 times, in order the primary corona wire to be optimally cleaned, and then make sure that the tab is back to its ''home'' position. Now, you must install the new drum unit along with the attached toner cartridge into the printer, and then press the [CLEAR/BACK] button. In the next step, you must confirm the new drum unit installation, and resp. the drum counter reset, by pressing [^]. Finally, you must wait for the following message ''Accepted'' to appear on the control LCD of your DCP-7030, and then close the front cover.
