BROTHER HL-1870N DRUM

The Brother HL-1870N Laser Printer can print up to 20,000 pages at 5% coverage with one drum unit. You can check the drum counter by selecting [INFORMATION] – [MAINTENANCE] – [REMAIN DRUM]. The installed drum unit should be replaced when any of the listed messages and print quality problems appears. Please note that you can solve some print quality problems by cleaning the primary corona wire. You can find instructions on how to clean the primary corona wire in the ‘’How to Install a Toner Cartridge in the Brother HL-1870N Laser Printer’’ manual.

The message [CHANGE DRUM SOON] is displayed – This message indicates that the installed drum unit is near the end of its useful life. You should install a new drum unit soon.

In the first step of the replacement procedure, you must open the front cover, and then pull the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly out of the Brother HL-1870N Laser Printer. After that, you must press the release lever located on the right side of the exhausted drum unit and remove the toner cartridge from the exhausted component. Now, you must remove the packing material from the new drum unit, and then insert the toner cartridge into the new component. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must insert the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly into the Brother HL-1870N Laser Printer, and then reset the drum counter. Finally, you must close the front cover of the laser printer.
