BROTHER MFC-9010CN COLOR TONER CARTRIDGES SET

Standard toner cartridges for the Brother MFC-9010CN carry approximate page yields of 2,200 pages and 1,400 pages for black and color units respectively. The starter toner cartridge supplied with the printer will require replacing after roughly 1,000 pages. Low cartridges are indicated by a TONER LOW LCD display message. Complete toner outages will be represented by a REPLACE TONER message.

Keeping toner cartridges on hand is the best way to ensure readiness when toner outages occur. Cleaning the inside of the printer is always recommended when changing cartridges.

When replacing toner, unpack new cartridges immediately before replacement to ensure undamaged cartridges. Turn off the printer power, then unplug the unit’s power cord to reduce the risk of shock. Lifting the handle, swing the top of the Brother MFC-9010CN open. Make sure the scanner is closed before lifting the top. To remove a drum and toner assembly, simply pull firmly and take out of the machine.

To separate the toner cartridge from the drum unit, press on the GREEN lock lever. Always dispose of old toner cartridges properly through a toner recycling program, and be sure not to inhale toner. It is best to put a piece of paper underneath the drum unit when working on it to prevent spillage, and handle toner cartridges carefully, never touching parts not intended for contact. Seal old toner cartridges in plastic bags before recycling.

A GREEN TAB is present on the drum unit that must be slid back and forth several times to clean the components of the drum. It is important to do this EVERY TIME toner is changed. Shake new toner gently from side to side before insertion and always keep toner out of direct sunlight.

Remove the protective cover from toner cartridge and place firmly into the drum unit, then slide the drum unit back into the machine in its proper place. Close the lid and power up the machine.

The Brother MFC-9010CN is equipped with a built in automatic document feeder that can hold a maximum of 35 pages at a time. When using the ADF, the preferred paper weight is 20 lb. Be sure to bend stacks of paper before using the ADF to ensure that double feeds to not occur.

Before using the ADF, make sure there are currently no thick documents that cannot be automatically fed on the scanner glass; this cold cause a jam. Also be sure that the paper in use is not compromised in any way such as folded, ripped, or crinkled. Never use cardboard or newspaper or anything that has been stapled or taped. Do not touch documents while ADF is in use. Always make sure input material is completely dry and remember, documents that are not ADF friendly can always be scanned using the scanner glass.

To operate the ADF, first unfold the input support flap and output support flap. After fanning pages, place document(s) face up, top edge first into the ADF. An LCD DISPLAY MESSAGE will appear that will let you know your document is touching the ADF rollers. Adjust the GUIDES to snugly fit against the input material, but not so tight that they hinder movement. Activate ADF via PC or control panel.

To use the scanner glass, the ADF must be empty. Documents used with the glass can be up to 8.5 inches wide and 11.7 inches long. Three dimensional objects, such as books, are compatible with the scanner.

When using the scanner, start by lifting the document cover. Follow the document guidelines according to indicated paper sizes and close the document cover as far as it will go, do not squeeze three dimensional objects. Activate scanner via PC or control panel.
