C5100N BLACK DRUM

Assuming that you print at least 3 pages per task, the four installed drum units will last approx. 15,000 pages. Please be aware that the lifespan of the installed drum units will be drastically shortened if you use heavily laid or textured paper. The OkiData C5100N Color Laser Printer uses the drum rotation counters to calculate the percentage of printing resource/life remaining in the installed drum units. Please note that you can view/check the status of all installed consumables from the [Usage] menu. An installed drum unit should be replaced when/if:

The message [REPLACE IMAGE DRUM 350: YELLOW], [REPLACE IMAGE DRUM 351: MAGENTA], [REPLACE IMAGE DRUM 352: CYAN], and/or [REPLACE IMAGE DRUM 353: BLACK] is displayed – The OkiData C5100N Color Laser Printer has detected that the specified drum unit has reached end of life. You should replace the exhausted component to avoid print quality problems.

An unpacked drum unit has been exposed to direct sunlight or to very bright room lighting for more than 5 minutes

You have scratched the green surface of the organic photoconductive drum during installation/reinstallation

The message [ORDER IMAGE DRUM] or [ IMAGE DRUM LIFE] is displayed – You should order a new drum unit because the installed one will have to be replaced soon.

Print quality is unsatisfactory. Please note that you can solve some print quality problems by selecting [System Adjust] – [DRUM CLEANING] – [ON]. You should also try to improve print quality by replacing the toner cartridges. The most common print quality problems, which indicate that one or several of the installed drum units have reached the end of their useful life, are listed below.

White vertical stripes appear
Black vertical stripes appear
Repetitive image defects occurring at intervals of 1,7 inches and/or 3,7 inches

Initially, you must press the small white button that is located on the left upper section of the main unit, and then open the top cover. Please note that the drum unit and toner cartridge assemblies are installed in the following order (from the control panel towards the Cyan LED head): Black, Yellow, Magenta, and Cyan. Next, you must remove the exhausted drum unit together with the installed toner cartridge from the laser printer. After that, you must grasp the colored release lever that is located on the right and pull it towards you to unlock the toner cartridge. Now, you must pull the toner cartridge out of the exhausted drum unit, and then take the new drum unit out of the protective bag. Please keep the new drum unit upright and do not touch the green organic photoconductive drum. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must carefully peel the protective tape off the new drum unit, and then remove the paper sheet and the clear plastic film from the new component. After that, you must detach the silica gel pack from the right side of the new drum unit, and then insert the new component into the corresponding slot. Once the new drum unit is inserted, you must remove the orange drum seal, and then install the toner cartridge into the new component. Finally, you must lock the toner cartridge by pushing the colored lever towards the rear side of your OkiData C5100N Color Laser Printer, and then close the top cover.
