This Toner Cartridge prints 15000 pages with an average 5% page coverage. The amount of pages can vary depending upon the amount of ink printed onto each page. (5% page coverage is a standard Canon specification)

Why toner? Why not call it ink? Regular ink dries quickly, which is why cartridges for inkjet printers do not last long. Laser Printers use toner, which is ink in the form of powder. A sealed toner cartridge can be stored for 2+ years prior to usage.

When do I Add Toner in the Canon imageRUNNER 2220 Multifunctional Device?

The Canon imageRUNNER 2220 Multifunctional Device is programmed to monitor the status of all installed consumables. The machine will display one of the listed messages when it detects that the level of toner in the toner box is low.

[Add toner] – The toner box is nearly empty. Please note that the Canon imageRUNNER 2220 Multifunctional Device can still print and copy in this situation (approx. 300 prints). However, print quality may become unsatisfactory due to the low toner level. Therefore, you should install a new toner cartridge as soon as possible.

[No toner] – The toner box is empty. Printing/copying will not continue until a new toner cartridge is installed.

How to Install a Toner Cartridge in the Canon imageRUNNER 2220 Multifunctional Device

Initially, you must open the front cover of your Canon imageRUNNER 2220 Multifunctional Device, and then unlock the toner box by pulling the blue lever down. Next, you must pull the toner box towards you until it stops, and then shake the new toner cartridge 8-10 times horizontally to loosen the toner. After that, you must place the new toner cartridge onto the toner box, and then push it down until it locks into place. Now, you must pull the black knob of the new toner cartridge towards you until the stop sign is visible, and then tap the top of the cartridge several times. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must return the black knob of the toner cartridge to its original position, and then remove the empty toner cartridge from the toner box. Once the toner cartridge is removed, you must slide the toner box back into the Canon imageRUNNER 2220 Multifunctional Device, and then turn the blue lock lever clockwise until it stops. Finally, you must close the front cover, and then press [Recover Later/Done].

The Canon imageRunner 2220 delivers average printing speeds, affordability, and outstanding output. Text is of professional quality and perfect for printing business documents. It comes with 256 MB of memory. This unit is compatible with Mac and Windows operating systems.

Pros:

The price of consumables for this unit is affordable. It only uses one black toner cartridges that yields 15,000 pages. The imageRunner 2200 has a maximum duty cycle of 75,000 pages a month.

The Canon imageRunner 2200 has excellent fax features. It has a 33.6Kbps modem that can transmit a page in three seconds. Output speeds with this unit are 22 pages per minute. Other multifunctional devices are faster. However the 2400x600 dpi resolution created by imageRUNNER 2220 toner will outweigh the below-average output rate. This unit will warm up in no time. As a result you will have to spend a lot less time waiting around for it to print.

Cons:

The Canon imageRunner 2220 does not offer color printing. Since most offices need color printing this is a major drawback. The paper trays for this unit don't hold a lot of paper either. As a result you need to add paper fairly regularly when using this unit.
