Cleaning the Interior of the Canon ImageClass Copier MF6580

The first step when cleaning the interior is to turn off the main power switch and disconnect the power cord. After you are finished lift up the left cover. Next grasp the blue plastic pull tab on the cartridge. Then pull at the blue plastic tab until you can hold the handle of the toner cartridge and take the toner cartridge out. The following step is to use a cloth to wipe off any toner or paper debris that may be in the machine. Then take the toner cartridge by its handle. Now push the toner cartridge into the machine until it will not go any further. Check that the toner cartridge is correctly in the machine and shut the left cover.

Cleaning the Fuser Roller in the Canon ImageClass Copier MF6580

Users may see black streaks on their copies. This indicates that the main unit may be dirty and you need to clean the fusing roller. The first step is to select [Additional Functions] on the menu. Then use the arrow keys to select [Adjust/Cleaning and enter [OK]. Next open the multi-purpose tray. The next stage is to remove the multi-purpose tray extension until it locks into place. Now load a sheet of paper. Use the arrow keys to select [FIX.UNIT CLEANING] and then enter [OK].

Cleaning the Scanner Area with the Canon ImageClass Copier MF6580

It is important to keep the scanning area clean which will allow you to achieve the highest quality copies. The first step is to open the platen glass cover. Next clean the platen glass and the underside of the platen glass with a wet cloth. Then clean the rollers inside the ADF with a cloth dampened within water and after you are finished wipe the area with a dry cloth. Afterwards open the feeder tray and clean the rollers below the document feeder tray with a wet cloth. When you are finished wipe this area with a soft dry cloth.
