Canon PC-170 Toner Cartridge (4000 Pages) - Personal Copier PC-170
  OVER 100

Price:  $37.89
Product Description
Canon PC-170 Toner Cartridge - 4000Pages (Canon PC170 Toner)

This toner cartridge prints 4000 pages with average 5% coverage (Nearly all Printer manufacturers base their ink/toner cartridge yields on 5% page coverage).

This product comes with a 6 month Warranty against any defects (including free replacement). We stand behind our products 100%, as these are not manufactured by Canon.

Why toner? Why not call it ink? Regular ink dries quickly, which is why cartridges for inkjet printers do not last long. Laser Printers use toner, which is ink in the form of powder. A sealed toner cartridge can be stored for 2+ years prior to usage.

Product Manuals
When to Replace the Toner Cartridge in a Canon PC-170 Copier
The user can check Canon PC 170 supply status by printing out a test page. To print out a test page the user must use the computer and enter Printers and Devices. Select Canon PC 170 and using left mouse key click on Properties. Click on Print Test Page and a page with toner levels will be printed shortly.

Canon PC 170 alert system will inform the user when toner levels are low when Toner low LED is blinking. At this stage is recommended to replace the toner cartridge. When Toner low LED is on the toner cartridge is empty and need to be replaced. If the user doesn’t replace the toner cartridge soon the print quality will decrease.
How to Replace the Toner Cartridge in a Canon PC-170 Copier
To replace a toner cartridge in Canon PC 170 the user must turn off the printer and slide the platen to the left and press the release button to open the top cover door. Take out the toner cartridge by sliding it out. Dispose of empty cartridge regarding local regulations.

Canon PC-170 Review

Those who spend time wondering how they’re going to get their fifty pound multifunctional printer safely to a trade show, remote meeting, or other out of office scenario that will require copy capabilities to be on hand need look no further than the Canon PC-170. This portable copy machine weighs a mere 17 pounds, folds right up, and even has an attached carrying handle, making it the perfect solution for those who require copying on the go.

The Canon PC-170 requires no warm up time before printing due to its unique, non digital copy method. Its simplistic design also eliminates the need to make adjustments to elements such as the exposure as the copy machine takes care of these settings automatically.

Because the Canon PC-170 utilizes a straight through paper path, the small device can print to thicker paper than usual from its main feed slot. The machine is compatible with paper sizes ranging from 17 lb to 32 lb and, if you’re feeling brave enough, you could even try to copy to thicker media as there is little risk when dealing with a straight through print path.

The paper feed tray on the Canon PC-170 is large enough to hold up to 50 sheets of paper. Considering the incredibly slow copy speed of the device, this amount or storage space is more than enough to suffice.

Canon includes a one year warranty with the device, which should not be taken lightly due to the relatively flimsier build of the Canon PC-170. The device is of course designed to be carried around and moved often, but that does not mean it is particularly durable in comparison to other stand alone copiers. If the device does end up getting banged up, Canon’s support team will provide assistance within a year of purchase.

While the Canon PC-170 is obviously designed to be the most portable copy machine out there as opposed to a high powered speed demon, the device’s 4 page per minute copy speed is pushing it. Having a copy machine that you can pretty much take anywhere is a very unique luxury, but the ultra slow copy speed does limit the device’s usefulness to some degree.

The device’s lack of digital copy technology also restricts it in many ways. Using a direct transfer copy method means that no digital version of the input material is stored within the device’s memory, and therefore multiple copies from a single source will have to be done manually, one by one. This lengthens the time it takes for multiple copies of the same source considerably because the Canon PC-170 has to rescan the source material for every single one.

Because the Canon PC-170’s copy glass is only big enough to fit a letter sized piece of paper, the unit is incapable of copying to legal sized output. Without digital copy technology, the device is also incapable of hooking up to a host PC to double as a printer or scanner so, unfortunately, this direct transfer unit’s only possible source of input is its scan glass.
