This toner cartridge prints 4000 pages with average 5% coverage (Nearly all Printer manufacturers base their ink/toner cartridge yields on 5% page coverage).

Why toner? Why not call it ink? Regular ink dries quickly, which is why cartridges for inkjet printers do not last long. Laser Printers use toner, which is ink in the form of powder. A sealed toner cartridge can be stored for 2+ years prior to usage.

When do I Replace a Toner Cartridge in the Canon PC-400?

The All-in-One toner cartridge installed in your Canon PC-400 contains the charging roller, the toner case, the photosensitive drum, the developing assembly, and the cleaning assembly. The lifespan of the standard toner cartridge is approx. 4,000 prints at 5% page coverage. You must replace the toner cartridge when the print/copy quality becomes unacceptable. The most common print quality issues caused by an exhausted toner cartridge are listed below.

How to Install a Toner Cartridge in the Canon PC-400

You must start the replacement procedure by moving the copy-board to the left until it stops. Then, you must open the top cover by pressing its release button. After that, you must slide the empty toner cartridge carefully out of the copier, and then unpack the new toner cartridge. In the next step, you must shake the new toner cartridge several times from side to side to redistribute the toner, and then remove the sealing tape by pulling it straight out to the front. Now, you must align the new toner cartridge with the compartment, so that the warning label is facing upwards, and then slide the new cartridge completely into the machine. Finally, you must close the top cover, and then return the copy-board to its original position by sliding it to the right.

Cons:
