TOSHIBA E-STUDIO 202L TONER CARTRIDGE

An INSTALL NEW CARTRIDGE message will appear any time the machine’s print cartridge runs completely dry. A REPLACE symbol indicating a toner cartridge will also blink continuously. At this point, the printer’s cartridge must be replaced or the unit will not operate. This is why it is always best to keep additional cartridges on hand so as to not hold up workflow.

The procedure for replacing the toner cartridge involves first opening the front cover of the device, the finding the green release lever on the cartridge itself. Pressing this lever will allow users to pull the cartridge out and dispose of by recycling it.

Once the new cartridge is removed from it’s packaging, it must be shaken thoroughly in order to evenly distribute toner that may or may not have been moved around in shipping. Pull on the seal that is indicated with a small arrow on its tab and remove it. At this point the cartridge may be simply pushed into the printer until it clicks, but an additional step is required before print operation can proceed.

Lower the unit’s bypass tray next and then open the automatic duplexer by pulling it’s small release handle. Next, open the transfer charger cover and you will find a small cleaning device in a holder. This transfer charger cleaner must be used to wipe down the transfer charger wire before a new toner cartridge can be used. Once the wire is cleaned, the machine can be closed up and tested for proper operation.

The large capacity feeder tray hardware option can be incorporated into the 202L to add a significant amount of additional paper storage space. To load the tray, first pull it out. Paper can be inserted SIDE BY SIDE in most cases in this tray, depending on its size.

Be sure to place paper copy side up when using the tray. The copy side is sometimes indicated on the wrapping of the paper itself or with an arrow for UP. Adjust guides on the sides of stacks of paper to tough the paper itself, and do not fill the tray above the MAX line. Push the drawer full closed and the paper will automatically be moved into position.

There are three selectable energy saving modes that can be activated when using the Toshiba E-Studio 202L. The OFF MODE does not simply refer to the printer itself being off, but to an adjustable mode that allows users to set a timer for when the system turns itself completely off.

An additional SLEEP MODE is similar to the off mode in that it shuts down parts of the printer after a certain, pre set amount of time without use. This mode only applies to models of the device with certain hardware, such the fax unit, installed. The period of wait time before sleep mode is set by default to 3 minutes, but ALL FACTORY SET WAIT TIMES MUST BE CHANGED ONLY BY A TECHNICIAN.

The AUTOMATIC ENERGY SAVE mode can be applied. In this energy save mode, the printer can be restored to fully operational status by pressing the START button. Sleep mode can be entered by first pressing the energy saver button, then pressing the sleep button. To return to normal operating mode, the ENERGY SAVER button must be pressed again.
