When do I Replace a Halogen Lamp in the Canon FP-400

You should replace the halogen lamp when the error code [L5] appears on the display.

How to Install a Halogen Lamp in the Canon FP-400

In the first step of the replacement procedure, you must switch the Canon FP-400, and then wait at least ten minutes. After that, you must switch the machine off, and then pull the halogen lamp unit out of the main unit. Now, you must release the exhausted halogen lamp by pressing the side lever to the left, and then remove the exhausted component. In the next step of the replacement procedure, you must unpack the new halogen lamp, and then insert it into the halogen lamp unit. Finally, you must insert the halogen lamp unit back into the Canon FP-400.
