The lifespan of the installed toner cartridges depends mainly on the amount of toner that your print jobs require. You can check the status of the installed toner cartridges from the control panel display. Printing a Supplies Status Page

1. Make sure that the HP Color LaserJet 3800dn Laser Printer is in a Stand-by mode.
2. Press the [Menu] button, and then select [Information].
3. Select [Print Supplies Status Page].

The HP Color LaserJet 3800dn Laser Printer will display one of the listed messages on the control panel LCD when a toner cartridge abnormality occurs. Please follow the detailed instructions given after each of the listed messages.

[10.94.YY REMOVE SHIPPING LOCKS FROM ALL CARTRIDGES] – The shipping locks have not been removed from the toner cartridges during the installation. Please reinstall the toner cartridges correctly.

[10.XX.YY SUPPLY MEMORY ERROR] – The memory tag of at least one installed toner cartridge is defective or damaged. You should try to solve the problem by reinstalling the toner cartridges. If the problem persists, you should turn the [Disable Cartridge Check] feature on, and then install the toner cartridges one by one to determine which component must be replaced. Printing will not continue until all defective toner cartridges are replaced.

[Genuine HP supplies installed] – You have installed a new OEM toner cartridge. This notification will remain on the LCD for approx. 10 seconds.

[INCORRECT [COLOR] CARTRIDGE] – The toner cartridges are not installed into the correct color-coded slots. Please reinstall the toner cartridges properly.

[INSTALL [COLOR] CARTRIDGE] – Please check whether the indicated toner cartridge is installed or not. If the cartridge is installed, you should try to solve the problem by reinstalling it and then testing the HP Color LaserJet 3800dn Laser Printer. You must install a new toner cartridge of the corresponding color if the problem persists.

[ORDER [COLOR] CARTRIDGE] – The HP Color LaserJet 3800dn Laser Printer has detected that the indicated toner cartridge is nearing the end of its useful life. You must make sure that you have a new toner cartridge set in stock.

Once the new toner cartridge is prepared, you must slide it along the guides of the corresponding slot until it stops.
