Individuals and businesses realize that choosing the right printer for their needs is one of the most daunting tasks to undertake.  Various printers and their components enable different technologies suitable for different needs.   The HP Color LaserJet CM6030mfp is designed for corporate businesses or medium-enterprise environments that require multiple functionality and fast performance.  It can work for home users if they run a small business often from home.  The MFP is one of the highest-priced printers on the market but for good reason.  It incorporates the latest HP ImageREt 4800 technology and offers adequate speeds for fast-moving businesses.  It stands 47.9-inches tall, 26.5-inches deep, 27.7-inches wide, and weighs 307.7 pounds.  The printer will fit comfortably in a corner or office that provides accessibility to its users.

Pros:

The HP Color LaserJet CM6030MFP has suitable print speeds that average out to approximately two seconds per page.  According to HP, the printer prints Black & White/Color documents at 30 pages per minute in Letter-sized and 31 pages per minute in A4.  At the beginning of the work-day, it takes roughly 16 seconds to warm-up and finish with the first print of the day.  All documents are subjected to a resolution of 1200 x 600 dots per inch at optimal settings at 600 x 600 dots per inch at default mode.  Compared to other Color LaserJet printers from HP, this one utilizes the best-of-the-best technology, the HP ImageREt 4800.

Need to print a large volume of documents for marketing or mass-mailing?  Users can set the copier unit to print up to 999 continuous copies.  All documents that interact with the copier can be enlarged/reduced from 25-400%.  Users can set the copier to copy on both sides of documents.   The most fascinating function incorporated in the copier are the image adjustments.  It can collate documents to aid in comparison and coordination.   Thereby, it erases the painstaking tasks of having to assemble and compare.  The copier does it for you.  End-users can adjust the contrasting to augment the element properties in their work to build dynamic communication.  Much like the abilities of Adobe's PhotoShop software, the copier can remove the background from images. 

The scanner feature can be utilized via color flatbed or the (ADF) Automatic Document Feeder.  Users can modify their scans to formats like MTIFF, TIFF, JPG, and PDF.  After conversion, the operator can then attach to email or fax.  Much of the copier features are integrated with the scanning component.  Essentially, this means that the copier functions and the scanning functions can work interchangeably.  Digital tasks can be used in lieu of other features associated with the machine.  Documents can be scanned and added to folders within the address book provided for efficient document management.

Running on a 835 MHz capable processor, the printer can dish-out 5,000-10,000 pages safely, per month.  If need be, the MFP can go beyond the call of duty and dish out up to 200,000 pages per month.  HP recommends the duty cycle of 5,000-10,000 to maintain the printer's performance and durability.  With the 50-sheet capable Automatic Document Feeder, 100-sheet tray for multipurpose, and two 500-sheet trays; the standard-maximum capacity is 1,150-sheets.  Prints and copies are outputted to the 500-sheet bin or optional finishers.  The optional finishers contain a 3-bin stapler and booklet finisher/maker.  Duplex printing, for 2-sided prints, is automatic.  So, creating booklets in high-volume should be relatively painless.

The connection interface is made up of a Hi-Speed 2.0 USB port, EIO slot, PCI express, FIH port, and a fax port.  An EIO slot is used to install a network adapter and print server.  A hard disk can be installed in this port.  It is always gratifying to see HP offer this tolerance for those whom want to optimize their printer to be network-able and energy efficient.  This MFP can be used with client operating systems like Microsoft Windows or Macintosh systems. 

Cons:

The printer weighs over 300 pounds.  Compared to the average body-weight of individuals in the U.S., that is twice the average body-weight.  Fax hardware is optional and must be purchased separately from the HP Color LaserJet CM6030MFP.  The term efficient printer and the term cheap are rarely ever used in the same sentence.  Concerning this printer, it remains rare.  Prospective consumers might be better off buying the CM6030f or the CM6040f series.  The two recommended printers retain all the features and more, found on the CM6030.
