COLOR LASERJET CP3505 FUSER MAINTENANCE KIT

The fuser maintenance kit contains several important consumable components: one Fuser Assembly, Tray 1 Separation Pad, Tray 1 Pickup Roller, Tray 2 Separation Pad, and Tray 2 Pickup Roller. The main function of the fuser assembly is to bond dry toner particles to the paper. A variety of print quality issues will occur when the installed fuser assembly reaches at the end of its useful life. You should install a new fuser maintenance kit, if:

• Paper jams in the fusing area are constantly reappearing, and the following message ‘’13.XX.YY FUSER JAM INSIDE TOP COVER’’ is displayed on the control panel.

• ‘’50.X FUSER ERROR’’ is displayed on the control panel – You should turn the laser printer off, and then reinstall the fuser assembly (Please refer to ‘’ How to Install a Fuser Maintenance Kit in the HP Color LaserJet CP3505 Printer’’). Then, you must turn on and test the laser printer. A new fuser maintenance kit must be installed, if the issue persists.

• The fuser assembly is installed, but the following message ‘’INSTALL FUSER’’ is displayed on the control panel – You must make sure that the fuser assembly is installed correctly (Please refer to ‘’ How to Install a Fuser Maintenance Kit in the HP Color LaserJet CP3505 Printer’’). A new fuser maintenance kit must be installed, if the error message is still displayed after the correct reinstallation of the fuser assembly.

• The internal rollers of the paper tray/trays are not picking up the media.

Important: Please turn the laser printer off, and wait at least 30 minutes before proceeding with the installation of a new fuser maintenance kit in your HP Color LaserJet CP3505 Printer.

Installation of the Fuser Assembly

You must start the installation by opening the top cover of your HP Color LaserJet CP3505 Printer. Then, you must remove the used fuser assembly by pulling it out of the main unit while pinching its two blue tabs in the direction of the blue arrows. Now, you must remove the new fuser assembly from the protective packaging, and then align the new component with the slot. Finally, you must insert the new fuser assembly into the slot, but make sure that it clicks into place, and then close the top cover.

Installation of Tray 1 Pickup Roller and Separation Pad

In the first step of the installation, you must open the front door of your laser printer, and then unlock the transfer belt by pushing its blue buttons down. After that, you must carefully remove the transfer belt from the front door, and then remove the screw from the separation pad of Tray 1. Now, you must remove the used Tray 1 separation pad, and then unpack the new component. In the next step, you must insert and secure (attach the screw) the new separation pad, and then remove the used pickup roller by pushing its locking tabs and lifting the roller out of Tray 1. At this stage of the installation, you must lock the round nubs of the new Tray 1 pickup roller, and then push the new component into place. Finally, you must reinstall the transfer belt, and then close the front cover of your HP Color LaserJet CP3505 Printer.

Installation of Tray 2 Pickup Roller and Separation Pad

Initially, you must remove Tray 2, and then remove the two screws from the used separation pad. After that, you must take the used separation pad out of Tray 2, and then unpack the new pad. Now, you must push the new separation pad into place, and then open the access cover of the used Tray 2 pickup roller. In the next step of the installation, you must push the locking tabs away from the grey roller, and remove the used pickup roller from Tray 2. Then, you must unpack the new Tray 2 pickup roller and lock its round nubs. Finally, you must push the new pickup roller into place, and then insert Tray 2 into the main unit.
