HP DESKJET 6940 PHOTO INK CARTRIDGE

Your HP DeskJet 6940 Color Inkjet Printer is equipped with two ink cartridges: Tri-color cartridge, and Black/Photo (optional)/Gray-photo (optional) ink cartridge. You could check the estimated ink levels at any time by navigating to [Toolbox] – [Estimated Ink Levels].
The built-in monitoring system of your thermal inkjet printer is constantly monitoring the status of the installed ink cartridges, and it will notify you when a problem occurs. All indications of an ink cartridge related abnormalities are listed and described below.

• The [Tri-color cartridge] LED is on – The built-in monitoring system has detected that the installed Tri-color ink cartridge is near the end of its useful life. You should install a new Tri-color ink cartridge soon after the initial appearance of this warning message. Otherwise, the print quality will be drastically decreased, and the printer will switch to a non-operational mode eventually.

• The [Tri-color cartridge] LED is blinking/flashing – There is no ink left in the installed Tri-color cartridge. Therefore, you must install a new Tri-color ink cartridge.

• The [Black, Photo, Gray-photo] LED is on – The ink level of the installed Black, Photo, or Gray-photo cartridge is low. The installed ink cartridge must be replaced as soon as possible, in order to be avoided various print quality issues.

• The [Black, Photo, Gray-photo] LED is blinking/flashing – The installed Black, Photo, or Gray-photo ink cartridge has been completely exhausted/emptied. Please replace the indicated ink cartridge.

Please note that you can continue printing even with only one still useable ink cartridge by turning on the ‘’Ink-backup’’ mode. However, the print quality will be very poor, when the ‘’Ink-backup’’ mode has been enabled. You should always keep a spare set of ink cartridges for your HP DeskJet 6940 Color Inkjet Printer in stock, but please store these consumable components at room temperatures (15degreesC – 35degreesC, 59degreesF – 95degreesF), and avoid removing the packaging material.

Initially, you must make sure that your HP DeskJet 6940 Color Inkjet Printer is turned on, and then load letter or A4 plain paper into the tray. After that, you must open the top cover of the main unit, and then wait until the ink cartridge holder stops. Now, you must unlock the exhausted ink cartridge by pulling the latch of the corresponding slot upwards, and then remove the exhausted component by slowly pulling it towards you. Please avoid shaking the used ink cartridges. In the next step of the installation, you must unpack the new ink cartridge, and then remove the plastic protective tape from its printhead. Once the new ink cartridge is prepared, you must align it with the corresponding slot, so the copper strips of the new ink cartridge are on the bottom and facing towards the slot. At this stage of the installation, you must slide the new ink cartridge completely into the corresponding slot, and then secure the new component by pushing the latch of the slot to its original position. Finally, you must close the top cover of your HP DeskJet 6940 Color Inkjet Printer, and wait for the automatic calibration procedure to be completely executed.
