• ‘’DRUM LIFE LOW <> ORDER KIT’’ – As a consumable component, the imaging drum has a limited lifespan, and it must be replaced after a certain number of prints. The purpose of this message is to notify you before the complete exhaustion of the printing resource of the installed imaging drum. For that reason, you must replace the installed imaging drum soon after the initial appearance of the warning message on the control display.

• ‘’DRUM LIFE OUT <> REPLACE KIT’’ – Printing is still possible in this situation. However, the print quality and the machine’s durability cannot be guaranteed. Therefore, you must install a new imaging drum immediately after the appearance of this warning message on the control panel display.

• ‘’INSTALL DRUM KIT’’ – The monitoring system is not detecting an installed imaging drum. The most common cause of this issue is an incorrect installation. Thus, you must make sure that the imaging drum is correctly installed into the printer by referring to ‘’How to Install an Imaging Drum in the HP Color LaserJet 4550 Printer’’. A new imaging drum must be installed if the problem persists.

• ‘’WASTE TONER FULL <> REPLACE DRUM KIT’’ – The waste toner container is integrated into the imaging drum. Because of that, you must replace the installed imaging drum when the integrated waste toner container reaches the end of its useful life.

When the installed imaging drum reaches the end of its useful life, you must make sure that the HP Color LaserJet 4550 Printer is turned on, and then open the front upper drawer of the main unit. Next, you must take the used imaging drum out of the front upper drawer by grabbing its blue handle and carefully pulling it upwards. After that, you must unpack the new imaging drum, and slide it down into the front upper drawer.
