You should replace the toner cartridge installed in your HP PhotoSmart C7180 All-in-One Printer, if any of the listed system notifications and print quality issues appears.

• Vertical Fade – The most common cause of this print quality issue is insufficient toner level. Therefore, you should install a new toner cartridge in your HP PhotoSmart C7180 All-in-One Printer.

• Vertical Lines – The structural design of your laser printer includes a photosensitive drum integrated into the toner cartridge. This print quality issue will appear, if the surface of the photosensitive drum has been scratched. Herein, you should install a new toner cartridge to resolve the issue.

• Gray Toner Shading – The surface of the photosensitive drum is damaged. You should install a new toner cartridge.

• Vertical Repetitive Defects – The installed toner cartridge is damaged or faulty. You should install a new toner cartridge.

• Vertical Lines – The photosensitive drum is at the end of its useful life. A new toner cartridge must be installed.

• The following warning message ‘’TONER LOW’’ is displayed – The installed toner cartridge is running out of toner. You should install a new toner cartridge soon after the initial appearance of this warning message, in order to be avoided print quality issues.

• The following error message ‘’CLOSE PRINTER COVER’’ is displayed – You must make sure that the toner cartridge is installed correctly and the top cover is closed. A new toner cartridge must be installed, if the problem persists.

• The following error message ‘’INSTALL TONER CARTRIDGE’’ is displayed – The built-in monitoring system of your HP PhotoSmart C7180 All-in-One Printer is not detecting an installed toner cartridge. You must make sure that the toner cartridge is installed correctly, and then restart the laser printer. The problematic toner cartridge must be replaced, if the problem persists.

• The following warning message ‘’TONER LOW <> PRESS GO KEY’’ is displayed – The installed toner cartridge is nearly empty. You should install a new toner cartridge. Please note that you will be probably able to finish your current print task by pressing the [GO] button.

Please note that you can reduce the toner consumption up to 50% by selecting the ‘’EconoMode’’ feature, but please be aware that the image density will be drastically reduced. The complete replacement procedure is included below.

Initially, you must open the top cover of your HP PhotoSmart C7180 All-in-One Printer, in order to gain access to the installed toner cartridge. Then, you must remove the used toner cartridge by pulling it slowly towards you. After that, you must clean the outside of the laser printer with a lightly water-dampened cloth, and then clean the toner cartridge cavity with a dry, lint-free cloth. Once you have cleaned the laser printer, you must unpack the new toner cartridge, and then remove the sealing tape from the new component. Now, you must carefully align the new toner cartridge with the slot, and then slide it into the laser printer until it stops.
