HP COLOR LASERJET 8550 COLOR TONER CARTRIDGES SET

You must replace the installed toner cartridges before the complete exhaustion of their print resource, in order to be avoided print quality issues and interruptions of the printing process. You can determine if an installed toner cartridge needs to be replaced by checking the HP TonerGauge, which is available in the status tab, the configuration page, and in HP Web JetAdmin.
Your HP Color LaserJet 8550 Printer features a precise built-in system for toner cartridge monitoring. This system will display a warning or an error message, if a cartridge status change or error occurs.

• ‘’INSTALL <COLOR> TONER’’ – The specified toner cartridge cannot be detected. Please make sure that all toner cartridges are firmly inserted into the corresponding slots of the laser printer, restart the machine, and check if the message is still displayed. A new toner cartridge of the indicated color will have to be installed, if the error message continues to appear after the restart.

• ‘’LOCK TONER LEVER’’ – Printing is not possible due to an opened/unlocked toner lever. You must open the front cover, slide the blue toner lever to the left until it clicks, and then test the laser printer.

• ‘’TONER LOW REPLACE <COLOR>’’ – The indicated toner cartridge is nearly empty. You should install a new toner cartridge of the indicated color soon after the initial appearance of the warning message, in order to be guaranteed optimum printer operation.

• ‘’TONER OUT REPLACE <COLOR>’’ – All printing operations are disabled due to an empty toner cartridge. You must install a new toner cartridge of the indicated color to continue printing.

• The overall print quality is poor, and one of the listed print quality issues is continuously appearing: horizontal lines, horizontal streaks, faded prints, or random faded areas – Signs for low toner levels. You must check the toner levels, and replace all nearly empty toner cartridges.

Installation of the Black toner cartridge

Initially, you must make sure that the HP Color LaserJet 8550 Printer is turned on, and then open the front cover. After that, you must swing the upper, blue lever to the right (unlocked position), and then remove the used Black toner cartridge. Now, you must unpack the new Black toner cartridge, and then shake it 7-8 times from side to side. Next, you must slide the new toner cartridge into the slot, but please make sure that the arrow stamped on the new component is pointing toward the main unit, and then remove the seal by pulling the orange ring towards you. Finally, you must swing the blue lever to the left until it clicks, and then close the front cover.

Installation of the Color toner cartridges

In order to install a new color toner cartridge, you must turn the laser printer on, and then open its front door. After that, you must turn the color toner carousel to the slot marked with a yellow sticker by pressing the blue button below the clear door. In the next step of the installation, you must open the clear door, swing the blue toner lever to the right, and remove the empty color toner cartridge from the carousel. Now, you must unpack the new toner cartridge from the corresponding color, and then slide it (with the arrow on the top) into the carousel. Once the new toner cartridge is inserted, you must remove its seal by pulling the orange ring towards you, and then swing the blue lever to the left until it clicks. In the concluding step, you must close the clear door, and then close the front door of your HP Color LaserJet 8550 Printer.

Please note that you will have to reset the HP Toner Gauge every time a new toner cartridge is installed. The reset procedure is available below.

1. Press the [+] or [-] button until [Yes] is displayed, and then press the [Select] button.
2. Press the [+] or [-] button to select the color of the newly installed toner cartridge.
3. Press the [Select] button.
4. You should press the [Go] button to exit from the [Reset] menu.
